Dan Maffei Town Hall Photos and Video

John at Red, White and Blue in the Face took some photos at Dan Maffei’s town hall on Saturday. It was so ridiculous. “Inviting the public” to the library, but read the fine print – appointments necessary. If you’re wondering where all the signs are, we were told signs weren’t allowed. When plans changed and Dan Maffei agreed to hold an open meeting, we were told that if we misbehaved the police would be called back. (They were there in the morning but left.)

Angry mob jammed into library aisle.

Honey, what’s up with the tape?

How appropriate – meeting to discuss ObummerCare in the SciFi aisle.

Below the fold is a video from 9WSYR. (Note, the video plays automatically.) H/T to New Conservative Generation

At least Channel 9 showed him wagging his finger.

The woman at the end said she’s a democrat but probably won’t vote for Maffei in the next election. She mentioned his body language and how she could tell he will vote for the bill. That reminded me – I was standing near the front of the room. I could see Maffei nervously shaking his foot when taking questions. Perhaps that’s why he wanted to sit in a chair, it must have been difficult for the folks in the back to see him.

You can read more about Maffei’s meeting here, along with video of him wagging his finger and explaining how we need smart folks like him representin’ us.

From what I heard, the DeWitt Police asked the library staff to put the tape down to keep people from blocking the aisles. Of course, no one seemed to actually stand on it. If you look at the first photo, that aisle looks pretty well blocked.

You have to wonder what the Democrats hope to accomplish by stonewalling this issue. They keep trying to manipulate the message and people aren’t that stupid.

BTW, I mentioned this on some other blogs, but I think this is worth a larger discussion. Why are union members showing up in support for this healthcare bill when union members, along with Congress, are exempt from participation? Healthcare packages are considered part of the organized labor contracts and this bill specifically addresses that. So why are union member even there except to act as enforcers for Obama’s message and possibly make the unions seem more socially acceptable for membership since their numbers are down.

I think the democrats have made a huge tactical mistake here. You can’t attack the people whose votes you’re looking for. Very stupid.

As for the unions – it’s all about power. If they can increase union membership the leader thugs of the unions will gain more power. But if everyone is automatically insured it could make signing up new members more difficult. They can’t waive that little carrot. But I guess they can say their plan is so much better than ObummerCare.
