Saturday, August 8, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Congressman Dan Maffei will hold a “Congressman on your Corner” meeting at the Dewitt Library in Shoppingtown Mall.
The public is invited to come meet their Representative to share their thoughts and concerns, ask questions and offer suggestions for how Washington can work better for our district.
To those on our side my advice would be to keep things as civil as possible. The left is trying to make us all out to be a bunch of right wing zealouts and we certainly don’t want to give them any ammunition. That being said, we are invited to share our thoughts and ask questions. I’d like to hear him answer a few questions, such as:
-Did he read the stimulus bill he voted for?
-Did he read the omnibus spending bill he voted for?
-Did he read the cap and trade bill he voted for?
-Will he read the health care bill before voting for it?
-Will he voluntarily enroll in any plan he would impose on his constituents? If not, why?
-Why is there no attention paid to the bipartisan Bennett Wyden bill – the Healthy Americans Act? That bill will not add to the deficit and leaves our health care in our own hands.
-Where in the Constitution does he find the authority to vote for any of this?

We are coming. Do you think posters would be okay to bring? I was going to take pictures and video parts also. What do you think?

Posters should be fine. I’ll be bringing along my camera, camcorder and my phone for backup!

Heard about Maffei’s Saturday morning meeting (Congress on the corner at Dewitt Library) after a few phone calls I found that it’s not an open meeting. According to Maffei’s Syracuse office it’s a one on one meeting with Maffei by appointment only. The day is already booked. It seems funny to me that it was announced on Tuesday and fully booked in a matter of a few days. Maffei’s Syracuse office told me that you have to leave your name, number and topic of discussion before you can get an appointment. At this point he’s not booking any town hall meetings for August. I guess he doesn’t want to face the voters in mass.

I called the library. It will be open to the public at the time so I suggest going and quietly holding a sign expressing your main concern.
