Sorry, this isn’t exaclty a post about politics. Other than the fact that my husband and I purchased Quick Books software to track his business earnings and expenses so we can dutifully pay our taxes to the state and federal government. Grrr.
Quick Books is not easy to use, especially for those of us who don’t have a background in bookkeeping or accounting. In fact, it’s such a pain in the butt my husband and I paid a woman to come and teach me how to use it and get us all caught up. So great, we’re all caught up. I’ve been using it and thought everything was just fine, despite all of the annoying pop-ups each and every time I use it.
So here it is, Sunday night. I thought I’d take about a half hour to get the receipts, expenditures and payroll data entered from last week. Hah! How silly of me! I received a message that the software we paid for and installed could not be used until I completed the registration process. “Okay” I thought and clicked on “register.” Ha! Ha! The joke’s really on me! I received a message that the phone number didn’t match their records. I called the phone number provided and received a message to call during business hours. All of this for software we paid for!
So I thought I’d Google “register quick books.” What I found were numerous complaints about the way Quick Books forces their customers to call their overseas representatives to register, but all they want to do is try to sell you additional products. I also searched the Intuit (maker of Quick Books) website. I found plenty of folks who posted the same question I have. Guess what?!?! There was no answer.
Needless to say I’m enraged. The time I wanted to spend catching things up has been completely wasted. In all, about an hour and a half I’ll never get back. I still need to enter the data into Quick Books and now I need to call some lackey from who-knows-where to be given a sales pitch. I kind of feel sorry for whoever gets my phone call in the morning.
If you plan to start a business and need accounting software, I strongly recommend you find something other than Quick Books. They suck! Big time!

I despise QuickBooks!
I took regular Quicken and, via changing “Categories,” customized it to my business. Works like a charm! I’ve been using Quicken this way since 1993.
BTW, I didn’t use any of the online options.

I called during business hours to register. Was told that our license was previously registered to another business. Some jerk bought it, installed it and registered it – then took it back. Then Office Max had the nerve to sell it to us. Infuriating. So the only way for me to use Quick Books was to pay for another license and now I have to send back the original disc, receipt, etc for a refund.
Argh!
