Senator Edward Kennedy Dies at the Age of 77

Senator Edward Kennedy lost his battle brain cancer.

I’m going to take Michelle Malkin’s advice: ” Put aside your ideological differences for an appropriate moment and mark this passing with solemnity.”

The Anchoress wrote a very thoughtful reflection on the life of Senator Kennedy.

My condolences to the Kennedy family.

Ok, I’ve given my moment of silence out of respect and I don’t wish such a disease on anyone.
With that said… One down, a whole lot more to go.

You are just way nicer than I am :) I can’t even muster that many nice words to say about it.

I can’t think of anything good to say about him, so I’ll say nothing. Maybe in a couple years, if I work on it……….

It’s often difficult to expression basic compassion to a man, and his surviving family, when you did not respect him as either a man or a politician. I have that difficulty here; and I never bought the myth of “Camelot”, so I can’t even muster up sadness that it has, finally, “passed”.

That said, I know that many people truly loved this man and for their pain today, I do feel a deep emapthy. Even for his life to end as it did is a terrible way to go, and for that I can extend sympathies.

I don’t need to be partisan today. He would never have been my friend, or even “my” representative; but a life has ended and I rarely take joy in that. Sympathies to those who lost him.

    No sorrow here

The man was a consummate hypocrite who rose to and retained power by virtue of personal wealth and the support of special interest groups.

IMO: He greatly contributed to the decline of this great nation.

Like I said, no sorrow here.

I was looking for a reason to regret his “passing”. He was behind the bills that take taxpayer money to give to the “poor”. Here is some interesting facts about his willingness to walk the walk. Based on tax returns, George W. Bush has given the highest proportion of his income to charity,
followed in order by Ronald Reagan, FDR, Barack Obama, and Ted Kennedy. Ronald Reagan gave approximately 6% of his income to charity, higher than FDR did during the height of the Great Depression. Obama and Kennedy regularly give 1% of their personal income the charity, according to tax returns.
So much for the “great humanitarian”.
