Dick Durbin accuses the American taxpayers who are upset with our government of being “plants” of the insurance industry and their lobbyists. He also referred to them as “tea baggers” and “birthers.”
Chuck Schumer calls them a “small fringe group” who don’t want to know the facts. Perhaps it is he who doesn’t want to know the facts.
If it isn’t bad enough that two US senators are openly mocking hard working American taxpayers, now the White House has joined the chorus. This is unprecedented. Does anyone recall a time when a president and senators openly mocked the people who pay their salary?
According to the Wall Street Journal the White House is brushing off the health care protesters.
Briefing reporters Tuesday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs suggested that the opposition is being organized by a small group seeking to create “manufactured anger.”
“I hope people will take a jaundiced eye to what is clearly the AstroTurf nature of so-called grass-roots lobbying,” Mr. Gibbs said.
AstroTurf!?! Manufactured anger!?! Have they stopped to think they manufactured our anger? By one manufactured crisis after another while spending us into oblivion?
Here’s Neil Cavuto with two Americans who don’t want to see the government take control of our health care. They have real concerns. They aren’t right wing wack jobs. They aren’t people who were put up to anything. They are two normal Americans who want those who work for us to listen to us.
I’ve personally been to two tea parties. I participated in organizing one of them. I didn’t meet one politician. (There was an aspiring politician.) I didn’t meet one lobbyist. I met other Americans who took time away from work and family to do something they felt was important. There were republicans, democrats, conservatives and libertarians. There were young parents and grandparents. We all had one thing in common – a desire to stop the out of control government. Make that two things most of us had in common – we had never before in our lives openly protested anything.
Update: H/T to Allahpundit for reminding me of this little nugget from the campaign.
In Elko, Obama tried to anticipate his critics and called on the crowd of about 1,500 to sharpen their elbows, too.
“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.
How civil.
While scrolling through my archives I found this from the biggest liberal interest group out there - AlGore:
“If you’re a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration,” Gore told the Clinton Global Initiative gathering to loud applause.
Two examples from a month’s archive, imagine if I went looking for more examples what I could come up with.

janet napolitano didn’t lie when she called us all terrorists, as we are now discovering every day about how this administration views us.
