Rarely do I get worked up on a Saturday morning over anything I read in my local paper. But I have to say, after reading this I have a bit more spring in my step this Saturday.
A proposal to call a “peoples’ constitutional convention” to overhaul New York state government, possibly including term limits and tax caps, is gaining a critical majority party cosponsor.
Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb says his proposal now has a supporter in the chamber’s Democratic majority. Assemblyman Mark Schroeder of Erie County has signed on to the effort. As a majority member, he has a far better chance of getting the bill to the floor.
A constitutional convention could reform the budget process and create spending and property tax caps, term limits, and a nonpartisan way to redraw legislative districts that have long been engineered to protect incumbents.
Kolb’s plan would prohibit politicians and lobbyists from being delegates.
Sounds good to me! I think the people of New York should demand it! Click here to sign the petition.

Just fininshed reading my local paper, story of local and regional officials calling Paterson a total idiot (my word) for raising the DMV fees. Calling for an overhaul, because people are leaving the state in droves and none are coming in. Well, except for me
I just thought y’all needed me up here. Little did I know how many like-minded folks I would find here. And it made me very happy. Signed the petition, too.
