Wow! Governor Paterson is making conservative noises. Has he seen the light?
The Ithaca Journal reports, via The Club for Growth:
This year, the deep pockets of New York’s rich were tapped like never before. The state’s wealthiest pay new higher income tax rates, higher taxes for limousines and yachts, more to enter a horse in a race and more to dabble in real estate.
[...]Now, early revenue figures suggest that taxing the wealthy more under this year’s state budget may have driven away richer New Yorkers. That could make the economic comeback for the state even harder.
“You heard the mantra, ‘Tax the rich, tax the rich,”‘ Paterson said Wednesday at a gathering of newspaper editors at an Associated Press event in Syracuse. “We’ve done that. We’ve probably lost jobs and driven people out of the state.”
Talk like that isn’t going to make Paterson any more popular in Ithaca, but I certainly welcome it.
He and the progressives need to read some history. Not once in the history of this country since the progressive movement came to “life” have their policies done anything but hurt the country. What’s more, just like Obamam, they seemed to understand that the American people wouldn’t really like what they wanted to do so they talk one program while they actually do another hoping no one will figure them out until it’s too late. Mr. Obama was found out early and continues to drag himself and his administration down with his progressive doctine and policy and his progressive (and sometimes criminal) advisors.
BTW – Red, White, and Blue in the Face is finally back online. Hosting service took a big data center hit and they’ve been NINE DAYS getting things right. Phew.
