Well, not exactly. But he is defying Dear Leader’s message not to make a bid for re-election. Too bad Paterson doesn’t make a really bold move – to the right. Maybe he will, last week he vetoed some spending bills because New York’s broke. Maybe he’ll start going after Obama. The administration’s move to regulate the pay and bonuses of Wall Street and bank employees is terrible for New York’s budget, as Paterson must know.
A defiant Gov. Paterson Sunday said he still plans to run for a full four-year term next year despite a stunning White House request that the poll-challenged governor step aside.
“I’ve said time and time again I am going to run for governor next year,” Paterson said in Harlem. “My plans have not changed.”
Paterson did not deny a Sunday Daily News report that White House political director Patrick Gaspard met with him last Monday to discuss the concerns the Obama administration has with him – and their preference he not run next year.
This is one more example of Obama’s lack of tact and statesmanship. He comes off looking like a bully. The next time he decides to meddle in state politics he may want to be a bit more subtle.

My brother who lives in New York should love this. He’s the real conservative in our group of siblings and chafes at constantly voting for losers in the Blue Empire State — but if Obama wanted Paterson to stand down because Paterson is vulnerable, then maybe, just maybe . . . .

It’s pretty obvious that Obama is aiming to be a dictator.

What the HELL is the US President thinking?? It is NONE of his business what the States do in regards to electing a governor. This is over the top!! Sheldon, you are so right, this is the action of a dictator. Paterson is a boob to the nth degree and needs to be run out of office next election, right along with Obama.
