Someone said on the radio this morning that we should all spend a few bucks to Joe Wilson to support his re-election campaign. It slipped my mind until I read this at Red State: (Emphasis mine)
The Democrat opponent to Congressman Joe Wilson has raised over $100,000.00 since last night.
What have you given to Joe Wilson. The man spoke for America. And now we need to open our wallets for Joe.
It does no good to pat Joe on the back or give him an “atta boy.” Joe Wilson needs us to open our wallets and checkbooks. Joe Wilson is now a serious threat to Barack Obama because he dared point out that the Emperor has no clothes. The left will target him. The left will target his family. The left will try to destroy Joe Wilson.
All of us who agree with Joe Wilson should open our wallets so he doesn’t lose his seat to a lefty Obama/Pelosi lap dog.
Update: Here are Rep. Wilson’s words from his website:
Today I need your help more than ever before. I’ve been under attack by the liberal left for months because of my opposition to their policies, especially government-run healthcare. They’ve run commercials in my home district and flooded my office with phone calls and protestors. They’ve done everything they can to quiet my very vocal opposition to more government interference in our lives. Now, it’s gotten even worse.
But I will not stop fighting against their policies that will only lead to more government interference, more spending, and higher deficits.
Will you stand with me today by making a donation to my campaign? If you do, I’ll be able to fight back against the attacks by the liberal left.
I know that my voice is serving as the voice for Americans across the country who are tired of irresponsible government programs that have only worsened our situation. During the August recess, I listened to thousands of concerned taxpayers who are mad at the rate in which liberal Democrats are spending their hard-earned money. They were shocked distraught by our nation’s slide toward extreme liberal big government and the attempts by Democrats to nationalize the auto industry and the banking industry.
I am also frustrated by this, but watching my Democratic colleagues in Congress scoff at the protests of their constituents has made me even more infuriated. Unfortunately I let that emotion get the best of me and I reacted by speaking out during the President’s speech. I should not have disrespected the President by responding in that manner.
But I am not sorry for fighting back against the dangerous policies of liberal Democrats. America’s working families deserve to have their views represented in Washington, and I will do so with civility. But I will not back down.
Now, I need your help. Last night, the liberals used my outburst as a rallying cry behind my Democratic opponent. Some of the nation’s most liberal online activists have helped him raise over $400,000 in just a few short hours.
As I said, I will continue to passionately fight against the Democrats’ big-government agenda, but I can’t do that if we let the Democrats take this seat.
Will you stand with me today by donating to my campaign? It will take a lot of work, but I know we can match what the liberals poured into my opponent’s bank account last night, and fight back against the Democrats’ unwavering attacks.
Please click here now and help me continue my fight. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Joe Wilson
U.S Representative
After I put my kids to bed I’m going to make a donation to Rep. Joe Wilson. I wish he were my congressman.

I wish he were our representative too.

South Carolina has a long list of dignitaries that includes Lauren Caitlin Upton (Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant contestant), Board of Education Chair, Kristin Maguire, Governor (and avid Appalachian hiker), Mark Sanford and now Joe “the hater not a debater” Wilson or the “screamer not the dreamer” as others have dubbed him. I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. He is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.

Paul wasn’t entirely coherent, so I’ll skip that.
Joe Wilson said out loud what over HALF of the country was saying at that very moment: YOU LIE. That language was changed TODAY, to close the loophole left open that Joe Wilson called him out on. Either Obama was lying or he doesn’t bother to understand the facts while he makes these pronouncements. Shaking his head and saying “not true”. It WAS TRUE; has the president (small p) bothered to note that today? I’m sure not.
I understand decorum in the White House and in the Chamber (unlike Bill Clinton and his intern and cigar–yuck). But in this instance, I understand why and how that outburst happened. I’m sure he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, either, having paper in hand and knowing it was a bald-faced lie. Good for Joe Wilson.

I donated to Joe Wilson (I live in Texas) at 5 am Thursday morning because he was the ONLY person with enough guts to say what I was creaming at the TV all throughout the president’s (with small p) speech. I wish he belonged to us instead of Lloyd Doggett.

Some call Joe Wilson a great statesman, and are even proud of his “Shout Out”, so lets see, he says, he was told by the Republican leadership to apologize (he did not realize the magnitude of his mistake), he then gives his weak “not for reals” apology, but then goes on to those “Commentator Talk Shows” and basically says he real was not wrong and plays the victim card and calls for people to send in for money to support him for re-election. Had he kept quiet after his apology, that might have been the end of it but now that people know he lied about the apology the story will continue, until he is out of a job and the funny thing is, he does not see it coming. This summer has been rough for his beleaguered political party. At least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”. The birthers, the tea baggers, the screamers, and the deathers continued extreme minority presence will become tiresome to mainstream America, if it has not already done so.
