Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee voted down Chuck Grassley’s (R-Iowa) amendment which would have required immigrants to present a picture ID when signing up for federal health care programs. Hey, why should they have to prove they’re legal?
They also shot down Senator Orrin Hatch’s (R-Utah) amendment which would have prevented federal dollars from funding abortions permanently. I guess Obama was just ignorant when he said abortions wouldn’t be funded by the federal government and illegals wouldn’t be eligible for ObummerCare.
The folks in the White House have apparently been watching Glenn Beck’s program. They aren’t happy with him.
Speaking of the White House, President Obama’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Jim Messina tried to bribe Andrew Romanoff to keep him from making a primary run against Senator Michael Bennett (D-CO). Corruption in the White House! Alert the media!
Kooky Rep. Alan Grayson refuses to apologize for his little stunt on the House floor yesterday. Well, sort of. He apologized “to the dead” and likened health care in the US to the Holocaust. Methinks he should use that Cadillac of a health plan we provide for him and get some psychiatric treatment.
Don’t expect the economy or unemployment to improve much in the next year or so. That’s the word from Alan Greenspan. Things certainly won’t improve for Saturn employees, they’re being sent to GM’s junk heap.
There’s something fishy going on in Montana – and it has nothing to do with fishing. Have you ever heard of the American Police Force? What’s up with that? Find out the details at Maggie’s Notebook.
Since General McChrystal made his plea for more troops, 43 American troops have lost their lives in Afghanistan. But President Obama is still mulling over what to do next. He’ll have plenty of time to think about it while he flies our jumbo jet 4000 miles to Denmark to pitch Chicago to the Olympic Committee. It’s a shame his wife couldn’t save a little carbon and a few greenbacks and fly over with him.
We have two nanny alerts tonight. The federal government is ramping up efforts to goad Americans to eat more fruits and veggies. I guess the food pyramid or whatever they were using wasn’t doing the trick. They want grocery stores to sell more produce. Gee, where may this lead us? The second nanny alert is for Michigan residents. You aren’t allowed to watch your neighbors’ children. Hear that? If you look after your friends’ kids more than four weeks out of the year you are in violation of the law. Don’t you know they belong in a state run facility and not with friends and loved ones? What are you comrades people thinking?
On last thing, my son is going to be heartbroken when I tell him we will no longer purchase Nike clothing and shoes for him. Sorry little buddy, but Mommy has to make a stand. Besides, if they get their wish and cap and tax is passed, we’ll be shopping at the Salvation Army.
