The Horror! Afghanistan Embassy Guards Acted Like Frat Boys and a Disgraced NY Governor!

There’s a big story about embassy guards in Afghanistan (a private security company – not the US military) drinking, hanging out with hookers and acting like frat boys. At least they didn’t transport hookers across state lines (or into Pakistan.)

The report highlighted occasions when guards brought women believed to be prostitutes into Camp Sullivan and videotaped themselves drinking and partially undressed. It also outlined communications problems among the guards, many of whom don’t speak English and have trouble understanding orders from their U.S. supervisors.

“The lewd and deviant behavior of approximately 30 supervisors and guards has resulted in complete distrust of leadership and a breakdown of the chain of command, compromising security,” POGO said in a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton outlining the security violations.

In all fairness, they should speak English so they can understand orders. And if all of this frat boy behavior was occurring while on duty, why did the State Department renew their contract? Could it be that this sort of thing happens in Washington, DC and Massachussetts all the time and is considered normal, as RS McCain subtely points out?
