Weekend News Round Up

Peace through appeasement isn’t working out so well. Iran is test firing missiles that can reach Israel while the Revolutionary Guard is playing war games. In the mean time, Venezuela is working with Russia to obtain nukes while China plans a parade to display some shiny new missiles.

Here on the home front, the president hasn’t given up his quest to put our bodies under the control of government. He’s pulled a new trick out of his hat. Obama’s latest ploy is to tie health care to civil rights. It’s not surprising but still regretable that politicians continually tell the electorate they have the right to the property of another.

Speaking of which, after Bill Clinton agreed that the “vast right wing conspiracy” against democrats is alive and well, he threw in this little nugget of a quote: “Now, keep in mind, health care is complicated, can be misrepresented. It’s personal. It can spark fear. It’s expensive. And the people that got the money want to keep it. So the change is hard.” Um, does Mr. Clinton want to keep his money? Why doesn’t he just do a big fundraiser to buy policies for the uninsured. Problem solved!

New York Republicans continue to display just how hapless they are. It turns out that DeDe Scozzofava not only has a funny name, the Republican candidate for NY 23 has been backed by ACORN’s Working Family Party in the past. And they wonder why the GOP in New York is on life support. Helllloooo!

Another New York institution on life support, the New York Times, admitted to royaly screwing up by not reporting the ACORN story. They still found a way to blame it on the right wing conspiracy of the blogosphere. They also forgot to mention how they buried an ACORN story prior to the November election that may have hurt the Obama candidacy.

Despite the fact that Asian countries whose students have higher test score averages than American go to school fewer hours than American students, the Obama administration wants to increase the hours American children spend in school. In fact, Education Secretary Arne Duncan wants the schools to become the heart of American communities. Of course he does, why would a statist want children at home with their families?
