He is saying that the current healthcare expenditure, both private and public, is $2 trillion. Of course, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to save $54 billion. And it doesn't mean that $850 billion is an acceptable cost of healthcare reform. And I still think Harry Reid is a self serving politician that does not care at all about the wellbeing of his constituents at all as long as they keep voting for him. But when we misquote people, it makes us look stupid and takes away our credibility. Every time we misquote someone to make an argument, the other side says, "See, you don't know what you're talking about." There are plenty of valid arguments against the current heathcare reform proposals. We don't need to destroy our own credibility by misquoting people. He’s not saying that Obamacare will cost $2 trillion. He is saying that the current healthcare expenditure, both private and public, is $2 trillion.
