Sorry, I’ve been lax in my blogging this evening. For a day off I sure was busy! I spent most of the day with my boys enjoying the fall foliage and picking pumpkins. Fun times! Unfortunately I had to spend the evening with Quick Books so our family business remains compliant with the tax man. I don’t think I missed too much.
Politico reports that Tea Partiers are less than thrilled with Republican Party leadership. This news should come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention. Hopefully the Republican Party will wake up and smell the coffee, or tea, if you will. All of the biggest policy blunders by Republicans have occurred because they reached across the aisle in the spirit of bipartisanship. We understand too well the two party system here in the US. The only way to bring about change is to change the Republican Party to reflect the values of their base – fiscal responsibility and defense of the nation should be their top (and some believe only) priorities.
Over the weekend liberal Senator Dianne Feinstein blasted Barack Obama for not following the recommendations of General McChrystal. Why is this liberal in favor of a troop build up? Glad you asked. Her husband stands to make a bundle, that’s why.
White House staff finds enemies in every corner. Every criticism brings about a sharp rebuke, even when it comes from their base. The latest – an anonymous White House employee told liberal bloggers to take off their pajamas and get out of the basement, or some such nonsense. Their criticism of the right and Fox News, while childish, comes as no surprise. But attacking their base this way reveals just how thin skinned they really are. I suppose I should be rejoicing in the fact that Dear Leader so easily throws his own supporters under the bus, but I find it disconcerting.
There’s a big vote Tuesday in the Senate Finance Committee on health care. Via Smart Girl Politics, smart guys and girls should let their feelings be known.
According to this article, there are three key Senators who need to hear from us! They are:
Jay Rockefeller (D-WV)
Ron Wyden (D-OR)
Olympia Snowe (R-ME)It’s not too late to make your voices heard. Call, fax, email, and Twitter these Senators RIGHT NOW and tell them to vote NO on Baucus’ plan. And encourage everyone you know to do the same.
That’s about all I can stand for one night.
