Besides a Nobel Peace Prize, I can’t think of anything President Obama’s so-called “smart power” has gotten for the US.
Pakistani’s still hate us, maybe even more than they did before.
There is no doubt the U.S. is losing this PR battle. The bill was designed to redefine and restart the US-Pakistan relationship – to replace years of mistrust and doubt here about the U.S., which is widely thought to have used Pakistan for three decades instead of actually helping its people advance.
Instead, the bill is – in the words of its critics here — a “humiliation” and an “impingement of our sovereignty.” Some of the most angry have even called for the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne Patterson, to be kicked out.
Russia’s still siding with Iran, maybe even more than they were before.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin warned major powers on Wednesday against intimidating Iran and said talk of sanctions against the Islamic Republic over its nuclear programme was “premature”.Putin, who many diplomats, analysts, and Russian citizens believe is still Russia’s paramount leader despite stepping down as president last year, was speaking after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Moscow for two days of talks.
“There is no need to frighten the Iranians,” Putin told reporters in Beijing after a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
To top it all off, we’re about to let Russia – RUSSIA ! – inspect US nuclear sites.
Russia and the United States have tentatively agreed to a weapons inspection program that would allow Russians to visit nuclear sites in America to count missiles and warheads.
The plan, which Fox News has learned was agreed to in principle during negotiations, would constitute the most intrusive weapons inspection program the U.S. has ever accepted.
And that’s all in just one day! Will we survive another three years?
Update: I almost forgot this:
Not only is Russia not helping us with Iran, they say their open to pre-emptive NUKES! Against US!
A top Russian security official says Moscow reserves the right to conduct pre-emptive nuclear strikes to safeguard the country against aggression on both a large and a local scale, according to a newspaper interview published Wednesday.
Presidential Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev also singled out the U.S. and NATO, saying Moscow’s Cold War foes still pose potential threats to Russia despite what he called a global trend toward local conflicts.
Um, I’d prefer a “unilateral cowboy” who doesn’t receive a Nobel Prize to an apologetic wimp who does. Just sayin’.
