Hope and Change: Three Navy SEALs Face Court Martial for Allegedly Punching Terrorist

This is an outrage. Fox News reported that three Navy SEALs are facing a court martial for allegedly punching a terrorist after he was captured.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

It wasn’t until Abed was turned over to the Iraqis that he claimed to have been beaten by the SEALS. A witness checked on Abed and said everything seemed fine.

Even if Abed was given a fat lip by the SEALs, so what?

The source said intelligence briefings provided to the SEALs stated that “Objective Amber” planned the 2004 Fallujah ambush, and “they had been tracking this guy for some time.”

The Fallujah atrocity came to symbolize the brutality of the enemy in Iraq and the degree to which a homegrown insurgency was extending its grip over Iraq.

The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

Intelligence sources identified Abed as the ringleader, but he had evaded capture until September.

So he killed agents transporting food to our troops, burned them and dragged them through the city – and we’re prosecuting our guys because he had a boo-boo on his lip? These court martial proceedings are an atrocity being committed against our troops!

This is more than an outrage. Those responsible for bringing charges are committing treason. No two ways about it. Time to call the people in charge of military matters, Senators and Reps. I’ll look for all pertinent names and numbers. It’s time to come to the defense of those who are defending us. This has crossed the line. It’s war. Unfortunately, it’s a war against our own soldiers by the Commander In Chief. Had enough yet, America?!

Behold the politically correct shackles that our brave military has to operate with. This outrage as Lisa says is just icing on the cake after the terrorism at Ft. Hood and General Casey “hopes” diversity won’t be harmed. Pathetic and shameful IMHO. Our P/C mindset will be the death of us, literally.

I agree with both of you completely. I only wish I had more time to express my outrage appropriately. On top of everything else I decided tonight would be a good time to work on some computer problems. Grrr! I hate Windows.

Maybe Katie Couric will write/recite a poem about this too.

It’s almost as if our current brain trust in the government is daring someone to push back when it comes to things like this and the New York terror trials.

They know these things are like acts of treason but they simply don’t care. They don’t see the country the same way you and I do.

This comes at a particularly bad moment—as I am halfway through a little known book written by survivors of WWII’s Easy Company (Band of Brothers).

Reading what these young men were willing to do, what they had to do, the no-pc-rules warfare they survived and the things they have to live with still…..and then SEALS on trial because a terrorist whines about a bloody lip, exactly as he is instructed to in the terrorist handbook??? The world has tipped on over, and if I consider what those WWII vets are thinking right now I am shamed. Just shamed.

This is a total atrocity against our SEALS. It’s embarrassing what politically correct leftists have done to this country. I guess the military needs to adopt a take-no-prisoners type attitude in the future. If we have any military left to serve under this coward Administration.

Yeah- sure- just beat him down while he is in custody. That’s fine. Bravery defined.

And as for this “terrorist”- I HOPE I would have the courage to attack and kill and hang from bridges invaders of my country. By the way- the “murder” of the blackwater Mercs was retaliation for the MURDER of 13 Iraqis at an unemployment rally a few weeks earlier by American troops. It’s worth noting that the shooting of 5 rock throwers in Boston by British Troops (which we laughably call a “massacre”) touched of armed resistance and a revolution.

Iraqis can point to HUNDREDS of such incidents.

But you all go one pretending the US are the good guys in Iraq and not the occupying RED COATS that they are.

    To Chris Dowd,

And who will keep the wolf from your door tough guy? It is obvious that all you know of the war is what you read and choose to believe. SEALs are not 18 year old kids playing grab-ass when know one is looking. It takes almost 2 years to become a full fledged SEAL, BUD/S is just the beginning. The typical SEAL has an above average IQ, is self-motivated, is physically fit at a world class level, and is calm and collected when others are panicked.
The fact that they took this terrorist (Damn right, terrorist) alive can be attributed to their warrior ethos and the fact that this is typical for SEAL operations. It is not a Hollywood shoot ‘em up. You get in, silently complete your objective and get out. Ideally, no one will even know you were there. If I choose to insert myself into a war and come out of it with a fat lip as my only injury; I call it a good day. So pipe down, and don’t mess with eagles unless you know how to fly.

Re Three Seals to be charged

Maybe we should be taking a close look at the officers “running” the war. Do they have combat experience themselves? Or do they have advance degrees from Harvard.

Maybe we should find out if any of the Pentagon generals and admirals have combat experience. Oh, and how many generals and admirals do we now having compared to the generals and admirals that helped win WWII.

This is far beyond an outrage!!
These SEALS are going to court on Pearl Harbor Day???
There seems to be way more to this than what we now and it seems like a deliberate attack on our elite forces that we depend on the get things done in secret. Having this go so far in such a stupid, stupid way is going to expose some things that should remain secret as far as operations, etc. And to top it off with a court date on December 7, the timing and the method really seems deliberate.
I really hope that someone can come up with a way that we can voice our opinions on this and just overwelm the nut cases behind this with thousands and millions of messages.

Our very best deserve our very best response!

Re: Incident with Somali pirates and Col. Phillips

These assault charges are payback for the U.S. Maersk incident….the White House was livid after the successful takeout of the pirates by the Navy Seals special ops. The pre-emptive and precise “takeout” of the pirates breached
the rules of engagement that were implemented during the crisis.
Any criticism of the Seals at the time would have been detrimental to the administration considering the successful outcome.
What a deep mess we’re in…with all the ominous threats we face, we have a military obsessed with diversity at all costs….and they’re vindictive to boot

Chris Dowd- Burn in hell, traitor. (that’s my nice side) The hell with being civil about this. These soldiers keep your butt out of harm’s way and I have no use for the likes of you. Your attitude is beyond disgusting, it’s treason.
