Rep. John Boehner: Dimming the Lights of Freedom
ByHouse Republican Leader John Boehner did his best to stop the PelosiCare bill from passing. Here’s the video of Mr. Boehner’s statement shortly after the bill was passed. (partial transcript below)
I came here to renew the American Dream, so my kids and their kids have the same opportunities I had. I came here to fight big-government monstrosities like this bill that dim the light of freedom and diminish opportunity for future generations.
Americans want a common-sense approach to health care reform, not Speaker Nancy Pelosis 2,032-page government takeover that increases costs, adds to our skyrocketing debt, destroys jobs with tax hikes and new mandates, and cuts seniors Medicare benefits. Americans asking where are the jobs are getting more of the same from out-of-touch Washington Democrats: more spending, more debt, and more government.
Republicans have better solutions to lower costs and expand access to quality care especially for those with pre-existing conditions without adding to the crushing debt Washington has placed on our children and grandchildren. Our plan will lower premiums by up to 10 percent, making health care more affordable for families and small businesses. Thats what the American people want, and thats what Republicans will continue to fight for.

Excellent speach.
The TRAITORS that voted yes did not listen as they they don’t care about whaT is right for the American people.
They only care about their own agenda and the quest to achieve and maintain power.
VOTE THEM ALL OUT AND START OVER!
Yes, ALL….those in the minority were way too silent. They should have resisted LOUDLY and to the point of being out of order on the Floor.
Sam, I have to disagree. The minority in the House was extremely loud. Did you see the House Call rally on Thursday? They held another press conference Saturday afternoon and gave speeches all day Saturday. Cao caved – he can go. He’ll probably lose anyway. But the House GOP has been much more unified than the Senate. I’d hate to see good people like Michele Bachmann and Mike Pence lose their seats to democrats. That certainly wouldn’t be productive.
The Republicans did as much as they could, and then some, to stop or delay the Dems health bill vote. Remember, the Dems are in charge, and the Republicans have been given no opportunity to be a part of any discussions……since Obama reminded them he won, back in February.
The Republicans last night did something that stunned the Dems…..they made a motion to recommit. Hoyer had apoplexy about that move by the Republicans.
The Republicans have all along offered amendments to bills that the Dems have put forth. The amendments were all voted down by the Dems……and of course, ridiculed by the Dems.
Sam Adams, you really need to broaden your perusal of news coverage so that you can get a better handle on what the Republicans have been doing. They have offered many, many proposals in contrast to the Dems health bill, but the Dems keep saying the Republicans have offered nothing……till the first of this week. So, who are you going to believe? I would suggest fact-gathering, not entertainers, be the watchword.
For one, I am very proud of all the work the Republicans have done, particularly when they know it will come to naught.
Keep it up, Republican Reps! You’re doing an excellent job with the chances you have!
For those who insist on a third party, and for those who insist on turning the Republican Party into an exclusive club, here’s a headline in November 2010:
Democrats Retain House and Senate, Conservatives Split Votes
I agree, Soldier. Not everyone needs to go, but people of reason need to be in the majority come 2012. THEN they must be reminded constantly that we all will not rest until America is truly back in business as a Republic. No more rights erosions!!
The Repubs did what they could IN THE HOUSE and only in proper fashion.
I’m talking bringing the word of this heinous
bill to the people.
Where are the Repub voices SCREAMING from the mountain tops?
Why are they all so polite and proper when on a talk show?
They should be IN YOUR FACE about this and NOT let the lib media define the issues.
I believe the MSM is in the tank but a good story is a good story. Mad as hell Repubs are a good story.
Why none are removed from the house chamber for being out of order is what I’m asking.
The minority speaker gives a speach and allows the members house to have side chats basically ignoring him…he should have gone ballistic.
Polite and proper can kiss my butt…we’re talking personal freedoms in a serious way here….not some funding for national parks and such.
To the majority, Utopian control trumps personal freedoms and Constitution. The MSM will not, or either spins Conservative incivility badly, but civility and worry about how the dimples in your tie look on TV at this perilous time in our country’s history will not insure the Founders intent to keep us free from tyranny.
