Have you heard about all the pork in the democrats’ stimulus bill? If not, click here for some of the doozies. A few of my favorites:
- $300,000 for a GPS-equipped helicopter to hunt for radioactive rabbit droppings at the Hanford nuclear reservation in Washington state.
- $11 million for Microsoft to build a bridge connecting its two headquarter campuses in Redmond, Wash., which are separated by a highway.
- $430,000 to repair a bridge in Iowa County, Wis., that carries 10 or fewer cars per day.
- $800,000 for the John Murtha Airport in Johnstown, Pa., serving about 20 passengers per day, to build a backup runway.
- $219,000 for Syracuse University to study the sex lives of freshmen women.
“But wait, isn’t this stimulus spending supposed to be creating and saving jobs?” you might wonder. Sure, there probably were some jobs created, most of which are probably temporary. But now the White House is making up jobs. They reported a firm that employs just over 500 people saved over 900 jobs. Talk about fuzzy math!
Apparently, giving someone a pay raise is counted as a job saved.
I suppose giving a person a pay raise does mean his job is safe.
Much easier to discredit was the president’s claim that he saved 935 at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council.
The council employs 508 people.
Maybe they put in a lot of overtime.
Once again, the Community Organizer-in-Chief proves that he is full of acorns.
Someone should tell the president to quit makin’ things up.
Radioactive droppings, why, what? Can’t Microsoft afford it’s own bridge, and will it be for public traffic? Bridge repairs for 10 cars? Murtha private airport it figures with that guy (Abscam). But why did they choose Syracuse U to do a female freshman sex life study? I guess 219 grand will buy a lot of drinks and sex safety devices. Go figure.
