The more things change…

Note from Karen: I could swear I’ve posted this before, but I couldn’t find it in the archives. It’s definitely worth watching this 50 year old cartoon. The issues are the same, we’re just the latest generation fighting the snake oil salesmen.

Fifty years ago, the issues of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were the same as today. The only difference between then and now – the snake oil salesman is female. See video below.

This is a priceless 50 year-old cartoon, demonstrating how big and small business thrives alongside labor. Then as today, one cannot survive without the other – capital and labor working together.

Liberals contend that America is different today, our needs are different, the U.S. Constitution is no longer relevant, but this humorous and desperately serious cartoon shows how the struggle for liberty never ends…until we let “them” end it.

I guess my question would be, why are people so short sighted that they believe their generation is the only one facing the same problems that have plagued mankind since day one? Namely, a group of people thinking they are better equipped to do the deciding for the majority.

A great deal of this blindness comes from the “we’re smarter than they were” mentality and the utter failure of people to regard history as a valuable tool. Just as a teenager is OH so much smarter than his parents, so today our lawmakers are sure they are smarter and know a better way than our founding fathers.

I have one admonishment for you America, wake the hell up, or kiss your sorry ass goodbye, because the crux is upon you.
