Namely, a group of people thinking they are better equipped to do the deciding for the majority. A great deal of this blindness comes from the "we're smarter than they were" mentality and the utter failure of people to regard history as a valuable tool. Just as a teenager is OH so much smarter than his parents, so today our lawmakers are sure they are smarter and know a better way than our founding fathers. I have one admonishment for you America, wake the hell up, or kiss your sorry ass goodbye, because the crux is upon you.
