Another Year – Heck – Another Decade is Over

By

The blogosphere is abuzz with end-of-year posts and articles. Let’s see – there’s the Decade of Fear, Weird Moments of 2009, Damn the Naughts, A Rodney Dangerfield America, and a Year of Obama. Having blogged about current events for the last two years of the decade, I’m not in the mood to rehash it all. Maybe it’s the cold I came down with on Christmas Eve that just won’t go away. And really, do we want to re-live the politics of 2009? It’s New Year’s Eve, I’d rather not start the evening with heart burn.

Mr. Lonely Conservative and I began the last decade as (sort of) newlyweds and we end it with two healthy boys - two loud and rambunctious bundles of life. We’re both thankful to still be employed, still have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. Here’s to hoping our good fortune continues in 2010.

Who knows what the next year or decade will bring? One thing the last decade taught us is to expect the unexpected and prepare for anything. Perhaps the past year will be a wake up call to Americans – a reminder that with freedom comes responsibility. Life isn’t always easy. Beware the politician who promises to ease your burden – the trade off in lost liberty is never worth it.

While our troops battle the enemies of liberty overseas, let us fight in our own way here at home to preserve the freedom we’ve inherited, the freedom that’s now in peril. It’s been eroded over time, but America remains a beacon to the rest of the world. The only way to keep it that way is to remain vigilant.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and safe new year, and offer my gratitude to those of you who keep coming back. Enjoy the holiday – and I’ll see you in 2010. (Unless something big happens in the next few hours. ;) )

Happy New Year, LC. Thanks for not doing one of those obnoxious “The year that was” posts :) So much has happened, and you’ve been blogging it every day. Bottom line is our country is in grave danger, the battle lines are being drawn, time to choose our weapons. First, the ballot. Then? Let’s hope the ballot is enough.

Sorry you are feeling puny, I have the same problem. Going to rest for the next two days, watching Twilight Zone on TV instead of living it :)

Any predictions for the year ahead LC? I think the price of gasoline will again rear its ugly head by late summer if not earlier, exposing the administration’s unwillingness to tangibly secure any new sources of energy. A long time ago in another administration of the 70’s America had to endure almost 15 years of a national 55 mph speed law and recommended heating and cooling limits that did absolutely nothing to move us forward. We may see that again, along with the certainty of higher taxes and debt ceilings. I’m really looking forward to this year’s election cycle in November as step one to hopefully vanquish these Marxists in seats held by so called “moderate Democrats” in red states.
