Christmas Eve Senate Vote To Take Place In Morning So Senators Can Avoid Ice Storm

By

Senator Mitch McConnell seems like a nice enough fellow, but his fight against the health care bill has been a bitter disappointment. Now he won’t even fight until the end. We don’t need nice guys leading the fight against the Democrats.

McConnell has agreed to hold the vote Thursday morning, before an ice storm, so they can all be home for Christmas. They’ll also vote on raising the debt ceiling. This is just lame.

Erick Erikson agrees:

Two blows for freedom with Mitch McConnell’s cooperation.

We need a Churchill, not a molehill as the GOP leader.

Good thing George Washington wasn’t a wimp when it came to crossing the Delaware in an ice storm on Christmas night.

By the way, why stick around? We know the Democrats have the votes. Make them own it. If we’re going to throw in the towel early, the GOP should en masse pack up and go home. Leave the Dems alone by themselves to do in the Republic.

The part that steams me the most is the vile way in which the Democrats crafted this bill and then jammed it through. There was no transparency. They’ve lied through their teeth. They’ve broken rules and thrown out the Constitution. And they’ve walked all over the Senate Minority Leader.

With any luck, after some holiday reflection McConnell will come back with a different strategy for fighting these statists.

Senator McConnell’s behavior is what’s wrong with the Republicans at this critical time in history. The good Senator obviously does not realize that his conduct of statesmanship, diplomacy, and appeasement will not win the day in dealing with these ideologues! It’s one thing to not have the numbers and vigorously resist the opposition, and another thing to almost help usher in their agenda. This is why people are incensed with Republicans; but how far removed does one have to be not to recognize and appreciate a prime opportunity to fill the void that so many people in America are desperate to have, as shown this past year from all the tea parties? I’m well beyond frustration.

Repost of comment: I emailed and called McConnell’s office. I wasn’t nice. The man needs to get out of office, he is just another traitor. The only thing that keeps me sane, is knowing that Americans WILL NOT abide this bill. We are not Canadians or Europeans, we are Americans! WE do NOT live as subjects of a royal class, not now, not EVER There will be NO dictators in America. The fight over the health care bill is far from over, I’m just extremely frustrated this has not been stopped yet. Mark my words, it will be stopped.

I’m no expert by any stretch, but I would have thought that the founders would have made sure constitutionally, that you couldn’t “set it up” so a bill is unable to be repealed. Where is the Heritage Foundation now? This type of bill with all the restrictions of individual liberty and penalties of assessment for non compliance of non constitutional requirements is absolutely what our founders tried to prevent. I can only hope SCOTUS sees it as such.
