Coming Soon To Your State? Minnesota U Curriculum for Teachers: Hate America

Is it just me, or has the left become exceptionally bold in the past year? I could cite countless examples, beginning with Rahm Emanuel’s statement that we can’t let a good crisis go to waste, to the bribery taking place in Congress in order to pass an unconstitutional health care bill. But the curriculum of Minnesota University just may take the cake.

Big Government reported:

While the rest of the nation is trying to force teachers to help our children reach their potential, the university’s College of Education and Human Development wants to make sure future teachers are more anti-American, so they can share that philosophy with their future students.

We couldn’t even begin to make something like this up.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, College of Education officials recently established the “Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group.” It’s charged with helping to devise a new system for training prospective K-12 teachers, because current teachers lack “cultural competence,” a factor officials believe contributes to the poor performance of minority students.

The task force has issued its final report, which the group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education brought to light, and officials from the College of Education are expected to review its recommendations in January.

What’s the task force’s main recommendation? That new teachers be immersed in a liberal political agenda that’s highly critical of American social norms, particularly the notion that all people can positively influence their own destiny through hard work and determination.

The task force “recommended that aspiring teachers must repudiate the notion of the ‘American Dream’ and instead “must embrace  – and be prepared to teach our state’s kids – the task force’s own vision of America as an oppressive hellhole: racist, sexist and homophobic,” according to writer Katherine Kersten of the Star Tribune.

“The report advocates making race, class and gender politics the ‘overarching framework’ for all teaching courses at the university,” Kersten wrote. “It calls for evaluating future teachers in both coursework and practice teaching, based on their willingness to fall into intellectual lockstep.”

The task force recommends that prospective teachers begin by confessing their own bigotry. They would have to prepare a report “describing their own prejudices and stereotypes, questioning their ‘cultural motives’ for wishing to become teachers, and take a ‘cultural intelligence’ assessment designed to ferret out their latent racism, classism and other ‘isms,’” according to the newspaper.

More than anything, “future teachers must. . . recognize and denounce the fundamental injustices at the heart of American society,” the article said.

What about those prospective teachers who refuse to fall into “intellectual lockstep?” After all, there’s bound to be a stubborn conservative or two who think America’s a pretty decent place to live, work and raise a family.

For them, the university “must develop clear steps and procedures. . . including a remediation plan,” the report said. ….

If it can happen in Minnesota, why can’t it happen in New York, California or any other state? If it isn’t already.

Part of the problem lies in the fact that most Americans who aren’t radical-America-hating-lefties have been raised to respect authority. We’ve been told to never talk religion or politics among polite company. We’ve allowed the left to control the debate and set the premises. Hence, anyone who questions multiculturalism is a racist. The left uses the history of slavery in America as a weapon to bludgeon anyone who dares mention that it was the Founders who made the abolishment of slavery possible. And while our gut instincts scream that these people are wrong, we remain silent out of political correctness and the fear of being labeled. We’re accused of wanting poor people to die because we oppose government take over of health care, regardless of the fact that where government controls health care people still die, after waiting for the treatment they’ve been promised by their government. They tell us that all of societies ills can be cured by more government, despite the fact that no government can cure societies ills; and the more governments try to control society, the more the ills of that society are intensified. If you disagree with them, you’re labeled heartless. Hence, even “right wing” politicians fall into the trap of defending failed policies and entitlements and promising even more entitlements.

It’s taken decades to bring us to this point. And now they’re just taking it up a notch. Rather than relying solely on the entertainment and media industries - industries we can boycott - they must take the message directly and without subtelty to the children. The truth is to be wiped out of the history books, and replaced with a revised history that fits the leftist world view. Apparently, it hasn’t been quite fast enough for the left. They’ve allowed enough breathing room for common sense and gut instincts to counter their agenda. They believe now is the time to make sure the next generation no longer relies on such antiquated methods of forming opinion.

This battle against the anti-liberty forces isn’t just a battle against the Washington establishment. The collectivist forces are everywhere, which is why Washington has so much power. Knowing how things got this way, and sharing that knowledge, is possibly the only way it isn’t going to get worse.

If Christians were infiltrating the schools trying to teach religious doctrine, we’d never hear the end of it from the media. But since it’s leftists indoctrinating the kids, that’s perfectly acceptable. No wonder we’re in the state we’re in. Good grief!

This point in U.S. history has got to be the tipping point for Republicans/conservatives no longer kowtowing to political correctness. We must do more than “know” the truth, we must “tell” the truth like it is, and we need glib people to do it. Republican Congressmen and Senators must sell their proposals much, much better than they are now. They are constantly proposing amendments and introducing legislation that the Democrats either decide to not vote on or the Democrats vote down the amendments and Republican-sponsored legislation. The Republicans are listening to us, as is evidenced by their references to us, but they need and the party, in general, need to take salesmanship to the next level or higher.

I think part of the problem is that conservative ideas are tougher to sell. It’s easy to promise some non-existent Utopia. It’s easy to promise other people’s money. Especially to the uneducated masses who are lulled into complacency by the media who covers for these people, their iPods, movies, play stations, etc. Asking people to sit down and actually think about a concept that doesn’t fit on a bumper sticker is just so passe.

But you’re right. If we don’t find a way to get the message across we’re doomed. I also think the conservatives have to start playing by the rules of the left – the Alinsky rules.

This has been one of your best posts to date LC. You’ve brilliantly summed up what escapes most Republicans in D.C. I would hope that they would especially take note of your last sentence, “I also think the conservatives have to start playing by the rules of the left – the Alinsky rules.” BINGO LC!
