Day Before Christmas Eve Open Thread

December 23, 2009
By 20 comments

This week is so busy, there’s no morning post today. Between work, Christmas preparations, and the statist assault on our liberty, there’s barely time to sleep these days.

But there’s still plenty to talk about.

Anything goes.

OBTW LC, if the leftists / statists had their way, your “Christmas preparations” would now be referred to as “Christmas reparations”. You would be required to submit all gifts to approved ACORN material dispersal centers for recording, approval and distribution. It would no longer be allowed to directly give to another person in any manner, something from your heart.

This morning I’m listening to a local radio talk show host that mostly does political topics. Today’s show he said, won’t be political, he said he had enough and was “sick of it” for today. I can understand the season and the need to release from the daily battles with Washington D.C. and the statists, but at this important time when some of us feel our core liberties being stolen, with the U.S. Senate voting TOMORROW MORNING to impose their bloodless coup, now is NOT the time to relax or forget. They’re counting on that, the statists NEVER STOP; so tomorrow, I’ll be emailing and trying to call their offices. Someone should post their home numbers and we should all try calling them to wish them a happy “holiday” season, dovetailing our utter distain in their unpatriotic and despotic behavior. Candlelight vigils at their homes might be in order as well. It’s a free society for now, if you can keep it as such and that effort is neither free nor convenient.

Michigan – I know exactly how you feel. I’ll be making some calls, too.

LC – this is in reply to an earlier post about Mitch McConnell.

There will be plenty of future Christmas’ to not be as active. Right now, it’s important IMHO.

Remember when they sent busloads of people to the homes of bankers and insurance companies who got TARP money? Why don’t we send busloads of people to the houses of our theiving representatives. That should wake them up.

Oh Kate, you would just be accused of “astroturfing” now by the MSM if they would even give it coverage.;) Great idea!

I read that article, and I’m telling you now that McConnell should have told Reid to stick it where the sun don’t shine! Big freaking deal, McConnell got a concession from Reid in return. THIS IS NOT the time for freaking deals, boys! This is war, and McConnell is a wimp, not a leader. He needs to get the hell out of office now. :) Merry Christmas to all.

Michigan, I totally agree with you.

Lisa, the deal he got was for the country and conservative goals, not for himself or his state. McConnell was acting very much as a leader when he required the Dems to do embarassing votes in the Republicans’ timely manner….so as to bring light to the Dems’ actions for all to see. McConnell in now way was a wimp here. Hope you re-read the article and perceive what McConnell was doing.

Gotta say, I agree with you Soldier 4110. I’m ever critical of everyone in DC, but I’m also not walking in their shoes. I do think he’s doing his best under the worst of circumstances. He should have done things differently when the R’s had the majority (57, not 60 mind you), but in this instance I do believe he did what he thought was right. Agree or disagree, I don’t blame McConnell for the disgusting actions of the majority.

THIS IS AWESOME , FROM COMMENTS AT NEWSBUSTERS PolitiFact wasn’t even
    December 23, 2009 – 11:35 ET by HockeyKid

PolitiFact wasn’t even close. The biggest lie of the year was:

“I, Barack Hussein Obama, will…preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

“Beauty is only skin deep, but liberal’s to the bone.” – me

Regarding Obama’s pledge, you know he took the oath twice. The first time he and Roberts stumbled through it, so he took it again the next morning. However, he did not have his hand on the Bible when he took the oath the second time. The veracity of those oaths leaves much to be desired.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!

“This little Babe so few days old,
    Is come to rifle Satan’s fold;
All hell doth at his presence quake,
    Though he himself for cold do shake;
For in this weak, unarmed wise,
The gates of hell he will surprise.”

    HEY REPUBS IN OFFICE!

    WTF?

    Going home early?

You should be fighting to physical exhaustion.

You are a bunch of losers…that’s why you LOST power.

The dems/lib/progs are a bunch of jackels who continually nip nip nip until they run down their prey.

Unless you FIGHT BACK and TAKE OUT their alpha dog, you will NEVER win.

Is this what it was like for good people in Germany in the late 30′s.

I disagree. The Republicans are doing all they can to not only make the facts in the bill known, but also to tear apart the bill as unconstitutional, etc. Ten AG’s are now investigating whether the Nelson/Nebraska favors are constitutional because not every state is afforded the same favors, therefore not uniform.

Since I’ve been reading comments on LC, it has come to me that Sam Adams could be a Dem in disguise…..for this reason: The Dems want to split the conservative vote so that they, again, can win the House and Senate. Although I am not a gambler, I would wager on this.

One reason I believe Sam Adams is a liberal is because conservatives deal with facts and Democrats don’t. Sam Adams rarely deals with facts, but instead rants in an unknowledgable manner.

      We’ll see, won’t we?

To Senate Democrats: Isn’t there one of you , just one of you, willing to stand up for your Country? Tell the truth to the American people about what this Healthcare take over will mean to them? How can you face your families knowing how this will limit care to your elderly relatives and impose tax burdens on future generations. Someday you’ll no longer be a US Senator and Obama will no longer be President but the massive healthcare bill will still be there sucking up a larger and larger tax burden. Lets face it the only reason for this bill is to enable the Federal Govt. to have complete control of healthcare costs. So show some backbone do the right thing and oppose this bill.

Unfortunately, even if one democrat senator has an epiphany tonight, tomorrow morning they will only need 51 votes. They needed the 60 votes for cloture, now that they’re done with all the cloture votes they can pass the bill in the senate with a simple majority. At least that’s my understanding.

Yes, He will. We may have a struggle, but we will prevail. And no, I don’t believe Sam is a liberal in disguise. He’s just angry about what’s happening to the country he fought for.
