That’s the message from Reps. Kevin McCarthy (CA) and Thad McCotter (MI) from this afternoon’s GOP Whip blogger conference call. And there’s no end in sight as far as the democrats’ job killing plans. Next week Congress will vote on a bill to recreate the financial industry – another czar, more centralization, more bureaucracy – not exactly what we need right now. You think credit’s tight now, just wait until they’re done.
About ClimateGate, Rep. McCotter said the bums who lied to Americans about the next Ice Age in the 1970′s are the same bums lying about global warming today.
The purpose of the call was to talk about jobs. Time ran out before I could ask a question, but I can relate a personal story about how jobs are created in America. My husband started a small business this year. With the gang of statists in charge it may sound crazy, but you can’t stop living or give up your dreams because of who’s controlling the federal government. My other half does home remodeling and has one employee who is happy to have a job. His employee was even willing to throw out all of the bad corner cutting habits he picked up from previous employers to do the job well. About a week ago I suggested to my husband that he hire another employee. He said there’s no way he can take on another employee in this economy. Instead, he hired a subcontractor for a day.
The reason he can’t hire another employee is that he has no confidence that his customers are going to be willing or able to put money into their homes next month or next year. The unemployed don’t pay for new kitchens. And retired folks don’t put additions on their homes when they’ve lost half of their reitrement income. Rich people don’t spend a lot of money on home improvement if they believe their taxes are going up. Not to mention most people don’t know if their homes are going to depreciate. How can he take on the responsibility of another employee if he’s afraid he’ll have to lay him off in a month?
We didn’t start this business to create jobs. The business was started to create wealth for our family. We’ve invested a lot of money, and in return created a job for someone who was unemployed. My husband could have remained at his old job, and not ventured out on his own. But there would be one less job created in New York. That job was created despite the efforts of the democrats. If they would stop doing what they’re doing, perhaps we could create a few more jobs.

You are absolutely humanly correct that it cannot be allowed for anyone to steal your most precious personal asset, that being your hopes and dreams. For too freely act on those is the true defiteniton of liberty and the meaning of America as our founders intended. When restricted by any man it is true despotism and tyranny, for they have stolen your soul.
