Naked Emperor News dug up some old footage of President Obama talking about using Medicare as the way to move to a single payer system. Notice, he said it would begin by opening up Medicare to Americans aged 55 and older.
One thing I find curious, Politico reported (via memeorandum) that the White House instructed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to scrap the Medicare expansion in order to get Senator Joe Lieberman on board. So, is Obama desperate to pass anything, so long as he can claim a health care “win” in order to give himself an A rather than a solid B plus?
Update: The White House denies pressuring Reid to drop the plan to expand Medicare.
