What do they put in the water in Massachusetts?
Via StoptheACLU, via memeorandum, The Taunton Gazette reported:
A Taunton father is outraged after his 8-year-old son was sent home from school and required to undergo a psychological evaluation after drawing a stick-figure picture of Jesus Christ on the cross.
The father said he got a call earlier this month from Maxham Elementary School informing him that his son, a second-grade student, had created a violent drawing. The image in question depicted a crucified Jesus with Xs covering his eyes to signify that he had died on the cross. The boy wrote his name above the cross.
The boy drew the picture after taking a trip with his family to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, a Christian retreat in Attleboro, MA. The teacher asked students to draw something that reminded them of Christmas. And for that, the boy needs counseling? He probably will need counseling after this incident with his school, where no child should be punished for their religious beliefs. It’s traumatized him enough that the family has requested a transfer to another school.
Here’s the “violent drawing” in question. Scary, huh?

What a load of Crap!
The PC teacher who started this persecution should be fired. They will more than likely get tenured instead.
Draw something that reminds you of Christmas
CHRISTmas
What gets drawn?
CHRIST
Hello McFly! Is the teacher stooopid?

Lawsuits need to be filed, parents AND taxpayers in the district need to demand accountability and expect action to be taken on the individuals responsible. Attend school board meetings demand answers, vote people out who don’t fit the district. Psyc-eval on an 8 year old drawing a picture of Jesus on a cross? Someone needs to get a grip.

I wasn’t really paying attention to the news on TV when this story came up, but they showed a pretty good still shot of the drawing and the one at the top of this article has had a very prominent placard above the figure reading “Jake” erased. What’s going on here? Was that the child’s name? But again, why is that portion of the picture not being published?

I bet the teachers had no problem with the children who drew materialistic things like toys, candy, and Wal-mart. If only more children knew the real meaning of CHRISTmas.

When other people are discriminated against because of their religion, they come to The United States… where are we all supposed to go when the supposed “City upon a Hill” catches fire?

Pepelaputr, if that was the kid’s name, perhaps they don’t show it out of privacy questions. We had a situation up here (?) recently–an abducted child’s name was published as part of the Amber Alert system, but once the child was recovered, and unfortunately seemed to have been abused, the name was removed from all later mentions.
The Constitution promises “freedom of religion”, not “freedom from religion”–but some people seem to find it hard to distinguish the two.
