John Boehner: We’re Broke!
ByIt’s a shame House Republican Leader John Boehner has to state the obvious.

Full text of John Boehner’s remarks.
Were broke. Americas broke. All year long, our friends on the other side of the aisle have been on a massive spending spree that our nation cant afford. We had a trillion-dollar stimulus bill that was supposed to created jobs immediately, and yet unemployment is now at ten percent in America and three million people have lost their jobs since it was signed into law. Weve got a budget thats going to double the national debt in five years, triple it in ten years. Weve got a $12 trillion national debt. We brought a national energy tax bill to the floor thats going to cost a trillion dollars passed it. We had a health care bill here several weeks ago another trillion dollars passed it. When are we going to say, enough is enough? Here we are today wrapping six appropriations bills together. Were going to spend half atrillion dollars. And its got over 5,000 earmarks in it. Things like: $292,200 for the elimination of slum and blight in Scranton, Pennsylvania; $300,000 for music and education programs at New York Citys Carnegie Hall, where they pay the employee who oversees the props more than $530,000 in salary and benefits; and theres plenty in here for Washington as well: $150,000 for the National Building Museum and $250,000 for the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts, a concert venue. Listen, I dont know how worthy any of these projects are, but I do have to ask a question: are they more important than our kids and grandkids, who are going to have the pay the debt because we dont have the money to spend on this? Its our kids and grandkids who are going to pay for it, and yet we cant find ways to cut spending. Before taking office, the President said he would go through the budget and these bills line-by-line, page-by-page. After Congress passed the $410 billion omnibus spending bill with more than 9,000 earmarks, the President signed it, and said, well that was last years business. Now the President says reducing the deficit is next years business that we need to spend our way out of this economic recession were in. Well I think the President ought to go through this bill line-by-line and page-by-page, all 2,500 pages of it. And then maybe hell figure out, we dont need to be spending this money that we dont have and piling more and more debt on the backs of our kids and grandkids. Instead, our bond rating, our AAA bond rating is in jeopardy and our Democrat friends want to raise the debt limit next week by $1.8 trillion. Instead, lets stop the madness and vote no.

On Monday this week, we saw Mitch Daniels speak to the press about how they had not projected revenue to be this low and that they will have to cut spending further. On Wednesday, I recieved 12 individual letters from the Indiana Dept of Revenue. Going back to Spring 2004, the letters say “According to our records, You may owe a sales tax of [thousands of dollars].” Three of the letters indicate a total over $18,000.00 for sales taxes for my oldest business that’s never had a sales tax number!(We don’t do a retail business) The rest are sprinkled throught 2004 – 2009 saying I “may owe a tax for witholding taxes”. I have to pay my CPA to answer for me – an expense Indiana small businesses do not need to have to pay right now. The letters demand payment or a written arguement refuting their letters within 45 days.
They’ve over spent and are desperate. They do not keep records well or seem to hire enough people that actually know what they are doing. But the worst thing is that their manner is heavy handed, implies threats of seizures if not paid. 99% of the time, it comes down to a form is not in THEIR records.
I resent this practice of throwing, what is nothing more than made-up questions, at the wall to see what sticks. If I don’t have good enough records that far back, it is inferred and assumed they expect we will have to pay it again.
Simply put – Indiana is not small business-friendly at all. I wish I could say otherwise – but they run you over in a heart beat in this state. Small business is their best friend when they’re running for office and want our vote but afterwards, if you don’t have 500 employees and a net worth in the millions – you can’t get anywhere with them. They absolutely are not trying to nurture small business, – at least I don’t see it happening.
We all get to pay into the Workforce Developement but many of us are written right out of the training grants program – a program that literally names IVY Tech as their preferred training provider. THAT should be illegal and unconstitutional!
John Boehner is but a parakete in a mine – There should be a daily web posting of who votes and what they voted on among our elected people in Washington AND each of our states. This web site should track how well these elected representatives adhere to the US Constitution and their oath. The real conservatives we have in DC should be pounding the hell out of every incidense where that is not the case – EVERY DAY!
Obama is a hopeless idiot and the rats on his ship have broken out the liqor. It’s a free for all party in Washington with no one in charge. PEOPLE!!! LISTEN!! – In a knee jerk reaction to Communism, we’re doomed to replace a lot of people in Washingtom with Republicans – Republicans that are silent right now “knowing” they’re apt to be re-elected just because they’re not a liberal democrat. This process of weeding out the bad apples must never stop. The other day they were praising Evan Bye on mainstream TV news, for “standing his ground” position on all the crap going on in Washington – well, his “ground” is doing nothing but sitting on the fence! We want both parties to know – sitting on the fence is as bad as being on the far left!!! Evan Bue ought to be dropped in the next election!.
