And Another One Down! Dodd to Retire – Is this Good News?

The democrats are dropping like flies. This time it’s corrupt Chris Dodd.

The Fix: Embattled Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd (D) has scheduled a press conference at his home in Connecticut Wednesday at which he is expected to announce he will not seek re-election, according to sources familiar with his plans.

Dodd’s retirement comes after months of speculation about his political future, and amid faltering polling numbers and a growing sense among the Democratic establishment that he could not win a sixth term. It also comes less than 24 hours after Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced he would not seek re-election.

State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is widely expected to step into the void filled by Dodd and, at least at first blush, should drastically increase Democrats’ chances of holding the seat. ….

Well, that last line puts a damper on things, so I guess we shouldn’t be celebrating too much. These retiring democrats now don’t have to put up any pretense of caring what their constituents think of their votes. With all the craptastic legislation in the pipeline they still have time to do plenty of damage.

Another Black Conservative had the same idea: “So as we all cheer about another Dem biting the dust before 2010, let us take time to realize the threat these retiring Dems pose.”

Gateway Pundit is still happy to see Dodd go: “Dodd will now have more time to spend at his Irish cottage.”

Larry Johnson is scratching his head: “Interesting stuff. Early days and THESE guys are gone? What, specifically, is going on???”

Good question.

There is something strange going on with Dodd and Gang. I must agree, why would they care about their constituents when they can ride off into the sunset and not be held accountable for their actions. I’m happy to see him retire, yet perplexed.

I’m puzzled, too. While it’s nice to see democrats retire, there’s got to be more to it. Anyhoo – good riddance to Dodd. What a crook.

I don’t think it’s strange. It’s part and parcel of who they are. If you know the country is angry with you and your party, may as well retire with that fat pension, healthcare for life and other perks, now. Why waste money on a campaign? Let some younger, dumber Democrat (who hasn’t already pissed off the people) spend his time and money, since his chances to get elected would be better.
Makes sense. You just have to learn to think evil :)

Getting rid of any incumbents is a good thing.

    Always.

Now if we could just somehow get this congress to impose term limits on themselves all would be good.

Dodd will be instantly vaulted to a high position with either Fannie or Freddie so he can continue his nefarious and destructive actions a bit below the radar. This “criminal” along with his “pal” Barney, have done more harm to this country than anything in recent times, and what’s the price he pays, government retirement and health benefits unlike anything anyone other than politicos get to have, on OUR dime to boot. I’m outraged.

As bad as Dodd is….once you get a whiff of Richard Blumenthal you’ll wish Dodd were back. Dodd’s re-election was a sure loss. Blumenthal’s is a sure win. This was carefully orchestrated.

The only good thing about Dodd was that he wouldn’t have been reelected. Now the Dems will win that seat with almost any candidate. Conn. is a sewer.

Any Democrat that announces their retirement after signing off on 0bamacare is simply a matter of damage control or them getting their golden parachute lined up.

    SOUND FAMILIAR?…

When I heard that Chris Dodd, the Connecticut Senator with plummeting poll numbers is “retiring” I remembered these headlines from September 2009…

OBAMA: PATERSON SHOULD QUITE NEW YORK GOVERNOR’S RACE – HuffingtonPost.com

PATERSON SAYS HE WILL RUN, REJECTING CALL FROM OBAMA – NYTimes.com

Paterson’s poll numbers were down and Obama saw him as a heavy liability. Obviously Chris Dodd has become a liability for the Democrats but unlike Paterson in New York, Dodd is doing what the Administration wants him to do.

By eliminating Dodd they increase their odds at keeping that seat. Voters are rightfully ticked off at Dodd and his fellow dems and the party knows it. Dodd’s 2010 GOP contender was gaining greatly in the polls and probably would have pushed Dodd out in November. Let’s hope conservatives can keep this momentum going in Connecticut until elections.

November can’t get here soon enough.
