Chavez Rethinks Energy Blackouts

Venezuelan goon Hugo Chavez didn’t suspend the power blackouts because they’re a bad idea. No, he suspended the rolling blackouts because they weren’t carried out properly. He just had the wrong guy implementing the policy. He’s still 100% on board with energy rationing.

Breitbart/AP: President Hugo Chavez indefinitely suspended rolling blackouts in Venezuela’s capital just a day after they began, and sacked his electricity minister saying he was responsible for mistakes in the way the rationing plan was applied.

Chavez’s announcements late Wednesday were a significant strategic shift in his attempts to prevent a widespread power collapse in the coming months through rolling blackouts of up to four hours a day across the country.

“I’ve ordered the electrical outages to be suspended, only in Caracas,” Chavez said on state television. “Because this government has to be capable of recognizing mistakes made and fixing them in time.”

Chavez said that since the outages began in Caracas at midnight Tuesday, authorities had cut power to the wrong sectors of the city. “I think in one area they repeated the outage a few hours later,” he said.

He added that some stoplights were left without power.

“Enough. I said if that’s what is going on, there was an error there,” Chavez said.

Chavez said he asked Electricity Minister Angel Rodriguez to resign and that “he has taken it like a soldier.” ….

That’s another thing about totalitarian socialist regimes – they’re often quite incompetent.

One more thing – did you know that Hugo Chavez campaigned on a platform of “change” and “spreading the wealth around.” Sound familiar?

When Breitbart says Chavez “sacked” his electricity minister he probably means it. This plan will be carried out with the chilling third world despotic efficiency of the Kim Jong Ill regime. I don’t know how or why the Venezuelan people tolerate this warden.

Ahhh, he ran on Change and Spreading the Wealth, and now Chavez is President for Life. I would venture to guess that if offered the job of President for Life, Obama would not turn it down. Perish the thought. 8/ November 2010 can’t get her soon enough IMO.
