Yesterday when I spoke to Mark Bitz, he mentioned that the economic crisis wasn’t a failure of capitalism, he said it was caused by the government. He’s so right. Just look at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for a perfect example of crony capitalism, and the economic havoc they wreaked with the backing of our government.
GM is another one. Did you hear their latest move? Using our taxpayer dollars to kick Toyota while it’s down. That’s right, they’re offering $1000 to Toyota owners if they trade in for GM vehicles. That’s our money they’re using. Toyota employs a lot of Americans. I’m sure those hard working taxpayers aren’t too happy that they’re money is being used to hasten their trip to the unemployment line.
Ford, on the other hand, doesn’t need gimmicks. They aren’t owned by the government. What have they been doing? Turning a profit and turning out a quality product. (Not that Ford isn’t a direct beneficiary of the government regulations that keep competitors at bay, but that’s a different story.)
Speaking of crony capitalists, a company called Ecotality received $100 million in stimulus funds to create 15 jobs. The company owner, a big Democrat donor, got to sit with Michelle Obama at the State of the Union speech last night. Gateway Pundit has the full story that’s sure to make your blood boil, so much that you may even believe in global warming for a moment.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Mrs. Obama brought a guest who built a company and created jobs with no help from the taxpayers? You know, someone who could be a real role model for young Americans, as opposed to a crony capitalist sucking off the federal teat? That would have been something to cheer about. Instead, the leaders in government smear the real producers in society.
These crony capitalists are just as bad as the Watermelon Marxists I told you about last month. There really isn’t much difference.
