Lt. Col. Allen West Responds to Harry Reid’s ‘Negro talk’

Allen West

I can’t tell you how sick I am of the way the liberals are all running to the defense of Harry Reid. Has even one of them denounced his outrageous comments? They can’t, if he steps down from his leadership position, that thread holding his healthcare coalition could snap.

Allen West is a war hero and a candidate for Congress in Florida’s 22nd district. His response is the best I’ve heard so far.

The revelation of Senator Harry Reid’s comments referencing “negro talk” is just indicative of the true sentiment elitist liberals, and indeed the Democratic party, have toward black Americans. The history of the Democrat party is one of slavery, secession, segregation, and now socialism. It is this new aged socialism born from the Johnson Great Society programs that have castigated blacks as victims needing government dependency. One need only to look upon the city of Detroit to ascertain what liberal social welfare policies have produced for the inner city… the new plantation for black Americans. The Ku Klux Klan was birthed by the Democrats as a terrorist wing to intimidate blacks, and whites, who sought to promote economic and education independence and social justice for blacks. What was once overt has just morphed and become covert, yet still exists.

[...]

Why am I running for US Congress as a Republican? Simple. I would rather stand proudly and be called “an Uncle Tom and a sellout” than lose my self-esteem and be considered an inferior by liberals. I understand the legacy of the GOP and the black community… not the revisionist history espoused by liberal educators. I am not, shall never be, and will not raise my daughters to be a part of the liberal 21st century plantation. I am not just some articulate, clean, well spoken negro. I am an American warrior, Congressional candidate, and shall never submit to the collective progressive ideal of inferiority. …….

Read the whole thing, it gets better.

RS McCain eloquently summed up the condescension of liberals toward the so-called ”victims”  of society.

I’m very grateful for Lt. Col. West’s expression of a basic truth: Liberalism’s stance toward blacks — as toward women, Hispanics, gays, “workers” and other token victim-group members of the Democratic coalition — is one of patronizing condescension, telling these people that they are incapable of pursuing success as individuals, but are in permanent need of government assistance as groups.Necessary to that worldview is the belief that there is a conspiratorial oppressor (e.g., “Corporate America,” the Religious Right, the patriarchy, etc.) against whom liberals will lead the crusade to secure the natural condition of equality that the oppressors allegedly prevent.

It simply isn’t so. This perverse Us-Against-Them attitude, based on a false mythology of perpetual victimhood and oppression, is a fiction that falls to pieces the minute you begin to examine it in any critical fact-based manner. Are the problems of black Americans (or gays, or women, etc.) in the 21st century really all the fault of demonized oppressors? Or is the liberal victimhood ideology just a sort of conspiracy theory, akin to the blame-the-Jews propaganda of anti-Semites? ….

President Obama defended Harry Reid’s comments, saying “without question because I’ve known him for years, I’ve seen the passionate leadership he’s shown on issues of social justice and I know what’s in his heart.” In essence, the president simply confirmed what the gentlemen quoted above so eloquently articulated.
