What an exciting night for those of us who aren’t radical progressives! Who would have thought a Republican would win the seat held by the late Senator Ted Kennedy for decades? Who would have thought the Democrat, Martha Coakley, would concede only an hour and a half or so after the polls closed?
We’ve won this battle, but the fight goes on. The radical progressives in Washington will continue doing whatever they must do to ram through their agenda. They’re already spinning this as some sort of referendum on Obama’s lack of ability to jam his agenda down our throats fast enough. As I write this I hear that Senator Scott Brown will be seated when the “proper paperwork” is received. Incredible – Martha Coakley conceded the race. I guess the “proper paperwork” is only necessary when Republicans are elected by the people.
That being said, I believe the election of Scott Brown represents a sea change in American politics. The American people are waking up. They see the back room deals, stimulus directed at pet constituencies, bailouts, and massive debt piled on the shoulders of our children. All but the most die hard or ignorant among us are recognizing the progressive Democrats for what they are – dangerous to our freedom and our future. This is not your parents’ Democrat Party.
Congratulations to Senator Scott Brown, and the people of Massachusetts.
I’m so happy to say that Mr. Brown is going to Washington!
Update: AP calls this an epic upset. I’ll say!
Update: Here’s video of the first part of Scott Brown’s victory speech.
Update: Kathryn Jean Lopez posted the full text of Brown’s prepared remarks at NRO.

A great night for the people of Massachusetts, a great night for conservatism and great night for Senator-Elect Scott Brown. I agree this is only the beginning. We must root out these progressives, single them out and then commence to voting them out.
I am hoping a couple of years progressivism will lay dormant if not close to dying.

Neo-Progressivism has it’s genesis in the public schools and universities. It must be a battlefront won, or America will be continually assaulted from within.

I totally agree with you. We still have lots of work to do; getting involved and voting in people with conservative values in our local cities and school boards. However tonight was a repudiation of progressivism period!
