The Wall Street Journal reported that Obama’s proposed a budget freeze. But really, it’s only a small part of the budget. And other parts of the budget will increase.
President Barack Obama intends to propose a three-year freeze in spending that accounts for one-sixth of the federal budget—a move meant to quell rising voter concern over the deficit but whose practical impact will be muted. To attack the $1.4 trillion deficit, the White House will propose a three-year freeze on discretionary spending unrelated to the military, veterans, homeland security and international affairs, according to senior administration officials. Also untouched are big entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.
The freeze would affect $447 billion in spending, or 17% of the total federal budget, and would likely be overtaken by growth in the untouched areas of discretionary spending. It’s designed to save $250 billion over the coming decade, compared to what would have been spent had this area been allowed to rise along with inflation.
The administration officials said the cap won’t be imposed across the board. Some areas would see cuts while others, including education and investments related to job creation, would realize increases.
Among the areas that may be potentially subject to cuts: The departments of Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Energy, Transportation, Agriculture, and Health and Human Services.
“We’re not here to tell you we’ve solved the deficit, but you have to take steps to put spending under control,” a senior administration official said.
This spending freeze won’t put much of a dent in the $12,245,872,000,000.000 hole we’re in. It won’t even make up for the $1.9 trillion they want to tack on to that number. And it certainly won’t do a thing about the cancer on the US economy known as entitlement spending. But hey, what do I know? I’m just another American living within my budget.
And remember, this debt isn’t the burden of someone else. It’s all of our debt, and our children’s and grandchildren’s. It’s going to have to be paid back somehow – most likely through higher taxes and inflation.

So, what’s your solution? How about we kill your parents’ Medicare and Social Security, not build any new highways or bridges for 20 years, close all federal prisons and send everybody home. And we don’t really need flight controllers, let the airlines sort it out. Let’s go to completely volunteer fire fighting and citizen patrols for cops. We could close the VA, who needs that? And god knows we don’t need any environmental protection or regulators messing with Wall Street. Can you suggest a single area that you would like to see cut that doesn’t have some bad effect on people who are poor or not the same color as you? I didn’t think so.

The solution is certainly not the government!
How about we phase out Social Security and Medicare and let the American people accept PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for their own future, such as privatizing their Social Security. How about we let the private sector resolve the problems which face an aging generation where they can provide an alternate to Medicare.
How about we let the private sector once again build highways and bridges like was done in the past. The PRIVATE SECTOR can and has done a more efficient job in building highways and bridges. The same goes with flight controllers, turn them back over to the private sector.
As for Firefighters and polices that all comes down to the local communities. Don’t recall in the constitution where the Federal government is responsible for providing for the local needs.
The less dependent people are on the federal government the more freedom they enjoy from its bureaucracies. Show the data where government entitlements have made the poor and people of different color better. Statistics show the poverty level is the same or higher. Government hand outs provide no incentives for people, just makes them slaves of the states.
Provide evidence the founding fathers envisioned a massive federal government?
You progressives have it all wrong! You are on the wrong side of history and certainly on the wrong side of what America is all about!

Question: Medicare will be left untouched by the cuts after a half trillion dollars are taken to finance Obamacare? Question: Health and Human Services budget will be cut when Obamacare proposes scores of new bureaucracies? Question: Is this the way in which Obama and his group are saying that they know Obamacare will not pass?

This issue deserves some prayer, if anyone is so inclined. DO NOT TRUST THE DEMOCRATS! As we’ve already seen with Obamacare, the bills the President is signing will be administered for years at a time and/or contain statements that do not allow for repealing the legislation later. They could write anything into any bill that would tie the hands “forever” of the people we will be electing in November. DO NOT TRUST THE DEMOCRATS!

I guess Jerry would prefer that we wait until Medicare and Social Security are completely bankrupt. Those programs depend on the younger generations working. When the politicians spend like drunken sailors and the economy stinks we have less young people working and paying into the system. It ain’t rocket science.
