The Most Gaffetastic Candidate Ever! Coakley Calls Curt Schilling a Yankees Fan!

I live in New York – but I will never, ever, forget Curt Schilling’s bloody sock. It’s one of those moments that’s seared into every sports fan’s mind. How someone who lives – and is a public figure no less – in the state of Massachusetts, could think Curt Schilling is a Yankees fan is mind boggling. Then again, the entire Coakley campaign is mind boggling. Now we know why she avoided public appearances for so long.

Of course Martha isn’t hip to baseball.

    That’s for the little people.

She’s too busy with important things.

Before the series, Schilling said, “I’m not sure I can think of any scenario more enjoyable than making 55,000 people from New York shut up.”

For the record, when that happened, I said to one of my southie friends “It doesn’t matter how many times the Yankees win the World Series from here on out- we will ALWAYS have this to hang over their heads”
    [I stand by that, BTW]

Love him or hate him, Curt Schilling played a pivotal role in New Englanders visiting the graves of their loves ones- tears still in their eyes, their voices still hoarse from celebrating and with a little pennant or trinket with the Red Sox logo to leave behind- to let their dearly departed know “They did it! They finally did it!”

Something that sacrosanct transcends sports altogether, and that was five short years ago. This is not nitpicking because MAHtha didn’t know who played shortstop for the ’81 Red Sox [Glenn Hoffman, BTW], but because we take our sports so very seriously. And for some of us who have either voted with their feet or are simply embarassed that Ted Kennedy got away with so much while claiming to represent us for so long, the sports teams are often the only worthwhile ties to the reigon that we could geniuinely take pride in.

She’s supposed to be a prosecuter and she accuses someone of something when she’s completely ignorant about who they are and whether it’s even true!!!!!!!

    MUST! DEFEAT! THIS! MONSTER!
