Guardian: The US military’s takeover of emergency operations in Haiti has triggered a diplomatic row with countries and aid agencies furious at having flights redirected.
Brazil and France lodged an official protest with Washington after US military aircraft were given priority at Port-au-Prince’s congested airport, forcing many non-US flights to divert to the Dominican Republic.
Brasilia warned it would not relinquish command of United Nations forces in Haiti and Paris complained the airport had become a US “annexe”, exposing a brewing power struggle amid the global relief effort. The Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières also complained about diverted flights.
The row prompted Haiti’s president, René Préval, to call for calm. “This is an extremely difficult situation,” he told AP. “We must keep our cool to co-ordinate and not throw accusations at each other.” …

Yes, the question is, will the MSM and US elites blame Obama the way Bush was blamed for everything wrong with Katrina (I’m not holding my breath). Did you see the comment Bush made yesterday to Jake Tapper, on the occasion of his joint appearance with Obama and Bill Clinton: that it is important to manage expectations because their will undoubtedly be disappointment with the rescue efforts, and that Obama has made a good start on this (I’m paraphrasing). What a great guy (Bush, that is!)!

They’re just mad like children that they don’t have their airplanes in the MSM lenses. I guess they should have responded quicker and been in on the ground first. The only reason that they’re doing anything now is so they won’t be shamed on the world stage. Haiti has become the politically correct thing to do to gain humanitarian credibility. Only America does the heavy lifting. But again, “The Great Satan” is “damned if we do and damned if we don’t”.
