Amy Bishop: Socialist Professor Who Killed Three Colleagues Also Killed Her Brother But Got Off Thanks to Dem Rep Delahunt

I’m just getting caught up on all the news of the weekend. Although I heard the news of the professor who killed her colleagues, I didn’t know (although I did suspect) she was a socialist who killed her own brother.

TPO: [Amy] Bishop shot her brother, Seth, an 18-year-old accomplished violinist, in the chest in 1986, said Paul Frazier, the police chief in Braintree, Mass., where the shooting occurred.

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s office released a 1987 report with details of their investigation, based on interviews with Amy Bishop and her parents conducted by a state trooper after the shooting. The report concluded Seth Bishop was killed by an “accidental discharge of a firearm.”

Amy Bishop told investigators she was trying to learn how to use a shotgun that her father had purchased for protection in the home after a break-in. She said she did not know how to use the weapon and brought it downstairs to the kitchen for help unloading it.

She said she was raising it when “someone said something to her and she turned and the gun went off” while her brother was walking across the kitchen, according to the report.

She then ran out of the house with the weapon. When she talked to investigators 11 days after the shooting, she told them she could only remember hearing her mother scream and she didn’t know the gunshot struck her brother until later.

The report by Trooper Brian Howe said Bishop’s “highly emotional state” immediately after the shooting made it impossible to question her. The report said she was 19 at the time.

Now it looks as though Rep. Bill Dellahunt (D-MA) has some explaining to do. (via Red State)

Amy Bishop was released before she was booked, however, and she was never charged in the incident. All police records of the case have since gone missing, with the exception of an entry in the police log noting an accidental shooting, Frazier said.

[...]

Braintree officers who remember the 1986 shooting said that former police Chief John Polio dismissed detectives from the case and ordered the department to release Amy Bishop after a telephone conversation with former district attorney William Delahunt.

My condolences to the families of the victims of Amy Bishop. It sounds like this madwoman should have been locked up for life, but thanks to Delahunt she was free to kill again. What a sad shame.

What a tragedy. Her gun jammed. If she were only smart enough to carry a back up, she could have taken out the whole room.

I’ll give her an 8, anyways.

Turns out she shot her brother in MA twenty-some years ago fatally with three bullets, but the [then] DA [now] Dem Congresscritter Delahunt didn’t think that was worthy of a trial & the case was DROPPED. I guess he recognized another socialist libtard in Amy’s mom. When he let her go free to get her PhD in bioethics/neuroscience & kill three more people—this will be ignored by the MSM, and she will be protected from excessive investigation by the Dem criminal racket squads—Delahunt participated in a cover-up which ended the lives of three people in Alabama

Socialists are often victims of borderline personality disorders, and about 50 Dem congresscritters fit into a seriously deranged category of mental defectives. Delahunt is obviously a borderline criminal.

Don’t know if her ideology played a role in the massacre. It seems a bit absurd to jump to that conclusion for the sole reason to demonize people on the left as blood-thirsty monsters. Her ideology is irrelevant.

If I were to point out that Jim D. Adkisson, the murderer of 2 people was a conservative, you would be outraged that I was being an opportunist in linking conservatism with the crimes of a madman. Logically speaking, the same standard applies here with your blog post.

I know. I know. It’s hard to imagine that murderers are not necessarily fueled by ideology. But nuance isn’t a bad thing. Shocking, I know.

    1) There was only one gunshot wound, not three as someone falsely alleged.

    2) Perhaps there is an explanation, but at theis point there is no evidence that these assertions have any basis in reality: “Now it looks as though Rep. Bill Dellahunt (D-MA) has some explaining to do” and “It sounds like this madwoman should have been locked up for life, but thanks to Delahunt she was free to kill again.”

What would you have charged her with? Manslaughter? A 19 year old girl?

Although there IS a story being circulated by the current police chief, but by his own admission he was NOT at the house, NOT involved in the investigation, and his story is nothing but hearsay at best. Not a single shred of evidence to back it up.

The assertions are groundless and appear to be nothing but disgusting and dispicable propaganda, nothing more.

This type of behavior by Republicans and Conservatives are the reason I left the party. It just keeps moving further away from anything remotely resembling the truth.

I hope Ex-Republican is honest enough to acknowledge that if a Republican representative had interfered, in any way, in an investigation it would be “further proof” of a lot of untrue things.

It would seem logical to me that someone made a phone call to Rep. Dellahunt; and further that the call most likely came from this woman’s family; and further that they would have some personal connection to Dellahunt; and further that it is unlikely the connection was some sort of love shared between liberals and conservatives. Birds of a feather, you know…

However you want to slice it (and political affiliation is a moot point), Dellahunt should not have inserted himself in any way. ‘Who you know’ should certainly never be entertained if you’ve just taken a life. Unless, I guess, you’re Ted Kennedy.

I will point out that for her parents this is a nightmare that will never, ever end, and my heart is with those people every bit as much as with the families of those who died. No parent wants to imagine that their child is capable of such a thing and it’s much harder to take than a funeral. Trust me, I know. Spare a prayer for her parents if you’re decent.

ZORRO mentions “weak arguments and defiance of logic”, which is just bizarre since Zorro and others are creating scenarios out of thin air.

Liberty 5-3000 implies that then-DA Delahunt interfered. Perhaps I just missed it, but I’ve seen no evidence of any such thing.

Again, perhaps I just haven’t seen the proof. But at this point in time, everything I’ve seen to date makes it clear one could gather all the evidence available gathered by state, county, and local authorities during the investigation of the first incident, and would not find a single DA anywhere that would have reacted any differently.

According to Ex, only people who are at the location where an incident occurs are qualified to judge it. Don’t we have detectives to figure these things out? Why were no detectives appointed to look into that incident? Because none was present at the time? The country is beginning to wake up to your weak arguments and defiance of logic.

It took some searching, but: arresting officers testified the shotgun was fired three times, the first shot blowing a hole in the wall of an upstairs bedroom, the second shot blowing a hole in the kitchen, and the final shot blowing a hole in her brother, hitting him point-blank in the chest. Amy then ran down the street with the shotgun, attempted two carjackings and was finally arrested at gunpoint.

Her father testified the gun was stored unloaded, in a gun bag in his bedroom.

At the time of the incident, Amy and her mother admitted Amy had just been involved in a heated argument with her brother, although 11 days later they denied it.

So: after a heated argument, Amy took an empty shotgun out of storage, loaded it, pumped and fired it three times, “accidentally” killing her brother, then threatened to kill two other complete strangers with the same gun before being overpowered by the police.

The arresting officers say they vehemently disagreed with the conclusion reached by their then-chief, after he received a call from Delahunt, telling him it was an accident. The then-chief absconded with the police file when he retired, and has only now returned it, although no-one can tell now whether the file has been altered.

Her ideology doesn’t matter. Delahunt’s ideology doesn’t matter. She murdered her brother, then she and her mother colluded with Delahunt to stop her prosecution. Murder and conspiracy to cover up murder aren’t right or left crimes, they’re just crimes. Amy’s mother and congressman Delahunt bear the responsibility for three more lives.

It appears Ms. Bishop may also have attempted to kill one of her professors at Harvard in 1993, when he gave her a bad review. I’m unable to find out if her parents are still alive.

I don’t think there is the slightest basis for believing that Prof. Amy Bishop was a socialist. Where do we hear about her political and economic leanings in this horrible story of her arrogant behavior? Nowhere that anyone has cited.

No, she is someone who was probably jealous of her younger brother – and of her colleagues. She seems to have shot dead only dark-skinned people. I haven’t seen pictures of the victims who survived. But since race may be irrelevant here, let’s just chalk up her killing to the same out-of-control temper that seems to have gotten her into other scrapes (shall we say) in her life between the two fatal days, separated by a quarter of a century.

It is my opinion that Norfolk Mass DA Bill Delahunt should have insisted that the Massachusetts State Police who investigate such crimes or suspected crimes find out more about the circumstances of the death, but after it there were other actions taken by Amy Bishop which also constituted crimes, such as attempted carjacking and assault with a dangerous weapon. She later did something most of us never get charged with – she hit a fellow patron at a pancake house and was put on probation. Lots of problems with rage.

So there you are – the only politics are in the way in which this was handled, as though no one could quite believe a young woman was capable of being such a monster. But that isn’t peculiar to blue states, now is it? I mean conservatives are supposed to believe that man is a fallen creature, capable of evil. So far as I know evil can not be banished by belonging to the right political party. Evil is something which recurs because this earth is not paradise, not even in one’s favorite political district.
