Aw, the Obama Store closed its doors

So sad.

US News: This time last year, the Obama Store was teeming with customers. Ideally situated in the basement of Washington’s Union Station, the store was filled with consumers eager to buy anything with Obama’s likeness while others took pictures of the life-size cut-outs of the president and first lady. Now, the Obama Storeis boarded up.

How quickly things change in a year.

The Obama Store was capitalism at its most brilliant rawness; find a market and exploit it quickly. The store made possible one-stop shopping for all of your tacky Obama merchandise needs. T-shirts! Hats! Calendars! Hand-warmers! Keychains! It was like something out of Spaceballs (“Obama: The Flame Thrower! The kids love this one.”). The store carried every imaginable product with the words “Obama” and “Commemorative,” except, notably, the Obama Chia Pet.

Too bad the Obama Store owner didn’t think to open a NoBama store.

“…….The store made possible one-stop shopping for all your tacky Obama merchandise Needs….”

    Correct!

Obama takes “tacky” to new heights.

Well…that’s one less small business the stimulus plan will be ‘helping’.

BTW….I was driving down a highway last week where it was slated to be widened and there was a big official-looking highway sign that read ‘Project Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’.

I’m thinking that the this administration isn’t above using it as a campaign sign, but then again, it could backfire when the project exceeds its expected completion date and runs over budget (as most projects tend to do) and traffic around the work area is still hopelessly snarled well into 2011…
