Did Palin have crib notes on her hand? – Updated and Bumped

This isn’t quite the big deal it’s being made out to be.  A few words scribbled on a hand for a long speech and Q&A session hardly means she didn’t know what she was talking about. Dan Riehl thinks she should start using a teleprompter, if so maybe she can be president some day.

That being said, it was a bit awkward.

Update: But it wasn’t as awkward at this.

Left Coast Rebel has a nice compilation of Obama’s gaffes for anyone wanting to compare their messiah to Sarah Palin.

I can only imagine what you would be saying if Obama had done exactly the same thing.

Agreed. It would be teabagging fodder for weeks.

The notes were scribbled on her hand for the Q & A, not the speech. I’ve noticed a number of commentators conflating the two. Having prepared notes for a long speech is expected. Being able to answer questions about party principles without the aid of cribnotes should also be expected. It’s not a small deal when a former candidate for Republican VP feels so shaky about her ability to remember one of the major tenets of the Republican platform – tax cuts – that she feels it necessary to write it on her palm.

Ashley has a good point, but she was clearly reading her speech throughout the delivery. This after months of pimping a ghostwritten book and not being able to answer scripted, pre-screened questions to what couldn’t be a more friendly audience is just a damning indictment on her abilities.

…and yet, Barack Obama’s inability to talk to a small group of even 12 year olds without TWO teleprompters is, apparently, not only not awkward but a sign of his superior intelligence…

I don’t blame Palin for wanting to think things out in advance and stick to them if at all possible. No one has given her a fair interview since she catapulted into the national picture. Even her own party wanted to shove her in front of the bus instead of Dem McCain…She has been vilified for everything from misunderstanding a question as spoken to giving birth to a “lesser human being”. Still impossible for this intelligent woman to get a fair break, and she knows it. When her nerves settle down, I’ll see the real her. Meanwhile….eh. Whatever.

Yes, Obama uses teleprompters for speeches-HA HA, that’s so funny. But not for Q&A-that’s a critical distinction (*also, there always 2 teleprompters-that’s how the work).

If you want to question Obama’s ability to answer questions (not pre-screened and from a hostile audience) you need to look no further than the recent Republican retreat where Obama made Republicans look like idiots…for an hour…on their turf.

Palin read from notes on her lecturn-which is pretty much the same thing, but since she’s made a career of talking about the telepromtper she can’t use one now.

“I don’t blame Palin for wanting to think things out in advance and stick to them if at all possible.” This does not surprise me because you would likely let her get away with anything…but it was 3 THINGS! and it was from PRE-SCREENED QUESTIONS! If she can’t keep that straight what is she capable of? And you’re blaming her nerves for this? How many excuses can you make?

Finally, the notion that nobody has given her a fair interview is so ridiculous it’s hard to know where to start…to start she’s had numerous softball interviews with her home network (FOX) and if you want to point Couric i guess you have a point: naming the magazines and newspapers sure it “gotcha journalism”. She should be able to deal with all questions, fair or not.

Your loyalty is sweet, but you really should be a little more critical.

“Your loyalty is sweet, but you really should be a little more critical.” Please! Sarah Palin has no power. And something tells me she doesn’t need two teleprompters to talk to six graders. As for the republican retreat, everything he said was a lie, so it doesn’t count.

HA HA HA HA HA HA! Everything Obama said was a lie, riiiiiight. Don’t you think that’s just a bit of an exaggeration? But you probably believe EVERTHING he says is a lie. Like his name and where he was born…and what does loyalty have to do with power? And you are flatly wrong that she has no power because she influences tens of millions of americans. Power is not just held by those in elected office.

Lastly, your still missing the distinction between speaking TO an audience and talking WITH an audience. The former is a speech and the latter Q&A. Or are you asserting that Obama used teleprompters when he was speaking with the kids?

Thanks for the link LC, even I couldn’t believe the level of hate and rage that I came across today googling this story.

Is this the best the Left can do to malign Palin? Wow, this is really substantive. So Palin is using a low tech version of reminder notes as opposed to Barach Obama’s high tech teleprompter that he never leaves home without, even when appearing in front of 5th graders.

That’s really a bang up job of reporting Huffington Post!

the best? no, just the latest…it speaks volumes about the shallowness of her intellect and her lack of moral compass.

and you too seemed to be confused concerning the difference between giving a speech (where to speak TO people using teleprompters-as Obama did, or notes-as Palin did) and having a conversation (like the Q&A). Obama doesn’t need notes to answer questions because he has at least a basic understanding of the issues and his party platform. Clearly not the case for Lady Palin.

Sarah wrote notes on her hand.

They read: Rich the troll is a dick.

What do a few words written on a hand have to do with a moral compass? It’s not like she was cheating on a test. Rich needs to get over his Palin Derangement Syndrome.

IT sounds like these lefties are lining up Sarah to blame for everything when the public tires of Bush being blamed.

You KNOW they are scared of Sarah.

The left & their cohorts in the MSM have been hitting at her AS IF SHE WAS ELECTED.

They KNOW she resonates with the people in “fly over country.” This demographic when energized is a powerful voting block.

I’d respond to Rich, but he’s a weenie and buying into Obama’s hypnosis speaking techniques.

Just keep tweakin’ the left, Sarah. They fear you!! And with just crib notes, too….imagine what you could do with teleprompters!

I used to be “polite” and choose to “take the high road.”

No more. Leftie trolls have NO RESPECT. Go to KOS or Huffington and read the vitriol spewed there.

I’ll debate ideas ALL DAY LONG, but when the left has NO INTENTION of listening then I’ll fight fire with fire.
