Glenn Beck’s Really Uncomfortable Interview of Debra Medina

I don’t think I’ve written anything on the campaign for governor in Texas, but I’ve kept an eye on it and Debra Medina. She’s a grass roots Republican who had been gaining some traction in the primary battle. I’m not sure what will happen to her campaign after her interview with Glenn Beck.

GLENN: I have when I said that I was going to have you on, you can’t imagine the mail pro and con that I received. There was a theme that ran against you and that is you are a 9/11 Truther.

MEDINA: Well, there’s lots of mud that people would like to throw at Debra Medina and make stick. The truth is I’m an everyday ordinary person. I am fighting for the things that our founders fought for, those very basic principles of a constitutional republic, and I’m going to champion people that hold their government accountable, hold me accountable but that’s the first time I’ve heard that accusation. So that’s an interesting one.

GLENN: Right. Here’s then let me be more frank and ask you the question: Do you believe the government was any way involved with the bringing down of the World Trade Centers on 9/11?

MEDINA: I don’t, I don’t have all of the evidence there, Glenn. So I don’t I’m not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard. There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all of the evidence there. So I’ve not taken a position on that.

GLENN: I think the people of America might think that might be a yes.

MEDINA: Well

GLENN: Do you have advisors, do you have advisor

MEDINA: I’m not going to take a position.

GLENN: That’s fine.

MEDINA: These questions have been raised and they are not answered.

Oh my. Talk about cringe inducing. Debra Medina has since released a statement.

I was asked a question on the Glenn Beck show today regarding my thoughts on the so-called 9/11 truth movement. I have never been involved with the 9/11 truth movement, and there is no doubt in my mind that Muslim terrorists flew planes into those buildings on 9/11. I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved or directed those individuals in any way. No one can deny that the events on 9/11 were a tragedy for all Americans and especially those families who lost loved ones.

The question surprised me because it’s not relevant to this race or the issues facing Texans. This campaign has always been about private property rights and state sovereignty. It is focused on the issues facing Texans. It is not a vehicle for the 9-11 truth movement or any other group.

I don’t know. Once the horse was out of the barn, I think her statement may be too late.

I heard the show this morning and right from the jump, she was almost filibustering and used talking points. The interview was a bit strained. She did not sound anything like a Doug Hoffman. She was somewhat polished on her statements, using repetitive words and phrases. I personally did not like her tone or radio presence. She pretty much self destructed; nebulously answering the 9-11 question from Glenn. I don’t live in Texas, but if I did, she wouldn’t get my vote.

Because you don’t live in Texas you don’t knokw how slick the Perry camp can be. I met Medina and followed her closely in Texas. She is smart, honest and appeals to many of us who are tired of career politicians that talk both sides of the issue leaving us confused. Beck folks played with the sound and volume control in the studio so that she could not hear Beck well. NONE of the questions discussed the day before to prep were asked. I thought Beck was sharp and rude at the start and ended with a disgusting inappropriate comment…very unprofessional. Why aren’t we discussing his push for Trans Tx Corridor and ties to the construction group in Mexico? Why not talk about forcing a new vaccine on girls when he has ties to the company that manufactures the drug? No, let’s dwell on an issue that Medina has no past record of uttering support about.

I don’t like Medina (you know I lived in Texas a long time) and wish she’d go away. She is for securing the borders and supports the 2nd amendment. Other than that she’s a nut job. Perry, even with his faults, needs to keep the job. Hutchinson is a traitor, so obviously she’s out.

What qualifies as a “nut job”? Explain further. She has more common sense than any politician I’ve met in a long time. Too many politicians are moving away from the U.S. Constitution and if you understand that, you understand how she thinks. You can’t be a nut job and get this popular with mainstream folks. Perry just doesn’t have “faults”…he has special interest ties that hurts Texans. Please educate yourself on issues of Trans Texas Corridor and Guardasil issue, a new unproven vaccine he was going to force on us. Those aren’t small issues with Govt. control in our lives.

I DO live in Texas…and have only read one published interview with Medina…and liked what I read. Who WOULDN’T like to abolish property taxes? She was right about that… NO ONE in America actually owns their property if they have to pay the gov’t (local or federal) a tax on it in order to keep it!! Technically we are ALL just leasing our property from the gov’t as long as we pay that tax!! However, I did miss Glenn’s show today with her and if I’d heard her even HINT at being a truther I’d probably just have thrown my hands up and wept. Is there no one out there who is willing to un-friggin’ do all the unconstitional garbage that has become the laws of our land? My God… who will lead us and still maintain the founding fathers plan for this country? Perry does like that Trans Texas Corridor (another imminent domain debacle about to occur!) and I believe it was HE who suggested MANDATORY vaccines for young teen girls with an expermintal drug to prevent possible cervical cancer(s) from occurring later in their sexually promiscuous lives. And Kay…! Whew! Hide your guns, open the borders, and get out the feel good manual. Good God, there is no one left for Governor of this great state except Glenn himself. He’s either got my vote…or I’ll take his recommendation.

My family and friends live in Texas, and I haven’t been gone that long. I’m fully aware that Perry is an idiot, but he can be persuaded to do the right thing. The vaccine debacle is a case in point. Texas does not have an income tax, so if you do away with property tax, what the hell do you have left. I’m fine with property taxes, just not excessive, as they are everywhere.

Lisa, I’ll tell you what your have…more of your OWN money! I gave up 25% of it when I earned it, 8.25% of it when I spent it and now I must continue to pay out in order to keep the land I paid for, register and drive the car I paid for and a thousand other little dings along the way. As far as you being for ‘non-excessive’ property taxes…I think that term is relative. I’d be willing to bet that Lowes, Barnes and Noble or my local plant nursery felt it was quite an excessive loss of revenue to their business when I couldn’t spend the thousands of dollars I paid out in property taxes at their establishments. Who is to say what is fair. I am, and therefore I vote.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer, he says so himself. He should be ashamed for saying he will french kiss the standing governer of Texas. That kind of talk is disgusting and should not be tolerated in political discourse. Mary you are sadly mislead if you think Glenn Beck has any kind of merit. Beck’s co-host then went on to say Perry looks good in a manner alluding to homosexuality. Listen to the interview. Disgusting. Shame on Beck.

The commenter who mentioned above that she sounded nothing like a Doug Hoffman is exactly on the money. She is not a tea party candidate and never has been. I have always felt there was something very different about her, but could not put my finger on it. Glenn exposed it beautifully and I am glad. Perry is getting my vote.

Also, I do not mind Toll roads at all. This means anyone from visitors to commercial travelers helps to finance those roads. If you are a resident, you dont have to travel the toll roads. Although, it is usually more convenient. That way, the revenue is collected not only by people who live here, but by all the travelers on the roads.

Property tax is a necessary evil. Medina has not come up with satisfactory equivalent to replace that.

Perry has secured the future for Texas, Medina is too green to be governor and we dont need to train a new gov. She obviously does not know how to answer questions honestly and then she changes her position when caught in her trutherness.

Anyone who is dropping Glenn Beck over this, was never a fan to begin with. And the homosexual references? Now that’s funnier than the original joke! My suspicions are the haters are progressives in sheep’s clothing trying to work the whole “destroy beck” argument.

Medina will fade away, Beck will live on, and the haters will retreat back into their moveon holes, only to emerge with the next glenn bashing moment.

Thanks, politicaljules. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Folks need to be thankful for Perry; we are the number one state attracting new business, and that means jobs. Medina lied in her website and literature by claiming to be the ‘TEA party candidate. She should be sued for false advertising, since there is no such thing as a ‘TEA party candidate’.

Perry’s toll roads included a provision that would allow people (possibly including my own family, depending on which route had gone through) to be kicked off their land before they were paid for it.

Perry hired the head of the Texas GOP who in subversion of party rules suppressed discussion of vote fraud before and during the last GOP convention. I was at the convention (albeit as a guest), if you want more information I can explain and provide links in order to describe this disgusting episode more fully.

And then there is the whole corporate welfare fund thing, which fits into the general picture of Perry as a cronyist scumbag who says the right things.

I think the unfortunately named Perry’s ills outweigh what Medina said.
