Hillary Clinton is fine with leaving US missionaries in the hands of the Haitian justice system

Do you think if they weren’t a Christian group that perhaps the State Department wouldn’t leave them in the hands of an “unacceptable” justice system?

Daily Caller: For their efforts to try to rescue twenty-three children from earthquake-ravaged Haiti, where the death toll hovers around 200,000, ten U.S. missionaries are now facing child trafficking charges in an incident that continues to cast a shadow on international relief efforts.

And despite the island country’s essentially nonfunctional judicial system — which the United States recently called “unacceptable” as prisoners languish in prisons without trial in often terrible conditions — it seems at least one U.S. diplomat has faith in the process.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said this weekend that the incident was “unfortunate” but that this is the time to let the Haitian judicial system, such as it is, handle the case.

“It is something that a sovereign nation is pursuing, based on the evidence that it presented when the charges were announced,” Clinton said matter-of-factly. “Obviously, this is a matter for the Haitian judicial system.”

Not to worry, though. She did promise some undisclosed amount of support for the US citizens as they languish in terrible conditions. It seems our federal government is far more concerned with the comforts and rights of terrorists than Christians trying to help kids escape from hell.

When providing aid, all groups must abide by the laws of the country. This act was criminal, child trafficking and kidnapping, period. They need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and 5 to 15 years in prison seems reasonable. Religious affiliation is totally irrelevant.

I do agree with one point that you try to make, however. Christianity has a deserved bad reputation in the area of treatment of children. The word has become synonymous with child sexual abuse.

    No wonder you are lonely.

      To Mr. or Ms. Perfect,

You may say whatever you want about this site or the situation in Haiti since you are no doubt without a flaw and of course not affiliated with any organization with a flaw. However let me provide you with a little extra infomation to put into you beautifuly manicured head.

About 80% of all world charity comes from “Christian” organizations. The first group being Catholics (horrible people those Catholics) and the second being Baptist (we all know they LOVE stealing children and force thier young to participate in abductions and slavery). Of this 80% or so I would venture to guess that a decent majority of it comes from “Christians” in America.

Another fact…shortly before the arrest of these “Christians” our Secretary of State Mrs. Clinton (the martyr) told America the the Haitian government was in shambles and the judicial system completely unacceptable and non-functioning. As to the US letting Haiti handle this themselves and letting their system work (would that be the same system that she just said wasn’t working?). She also, in the same letter said that the State Department wouldn’t rush in for any American in any country…hmmmm, that is interesting. I believe that the Honorable Mrs. Clinton herself negotiated for the release of a certain tv stars sister who, while seemingly innocent enough, did admit she broke the law when she crossed a border that she and her companion KNEW she had no business crossing.

But I understand…she did have a famous sister plastering her picture all over NBC in praise of the efforts to release her by the same State Department. You know what she even got an exclusive on Obama’s, I mean Oprah’s, network.

I am a Christan, a conservative, a tax-payer, a voter, and yes…a baptist! You may not like me for all those reasons and that is ok with me because I have a God big enough to allow me to love you. Yes you. And, if you ever do make a mistake and land yourself in a filthy, bug-ridden jail cell without communication with your spouse and children I promise I would do all I could for you too. I would write the same letters to the same corrupt Secretary of State, newspaper, blog, anyone who would listen because…

You are an American, a human being, who loves, makes mistakes, and cries out for the hurting. You deserve to be represented, loved, cared for by your fellow Americans and humans.

However, since you are perfect I guess you don’t need my love. (But you have it anyway)

“The Church is funded from public money – they have no income of their own – but where does the money go? It goes into their rituals, their wages, their legal battles and their running costs and finally some of it escapes as aid to those who need it. The next time you decide to give to charity, make sure it is not a church, for you are funding ignorance and inefficiency. I would rather go and help in person, than to trust someone else to use my money. [...] Does it not bother the Pope that he can sit in a palace with the entire Vatican around him, extensive and rich ritual upheld for the trivial respect for outdated customs whilst half the world needs basic facilities? The Vatican has an annual revenue of $169 million (USD).”
Vexen Crabtree, “Why dispense with Christianity or theism?”, 1999

“Let us put this into real terms. If you give a very generous donation of £100 pounds to St. Albans Cathedral in order to feel good about yourself, to aid the poor, for charity, etc, then the amount that actually goes to charity is £5.50. 95% of your money has gone elsewhere”

Vexen Crabtree, “If you want to give to charity; do not give to Church”, 2001

Studies on Church funds have found that a surprising amount of collected money is stolen before it even reaches the official books of the church, so the percent wasted by religious charities (if you give to Church collections) is even higher than the figures above suggest.

“A survey by researchers at Villanova University in the USA has found that 85 percent of Roman Catholic dioceses that responded had discovered embezzlement of church funds in the past five years, with 11 percent reporting that more than $500,000 had been stolen. The finding casts doubts on the morality of many Catholics who rapidly give in when temptation is put in their way. When no one is looking, the cash that goes into the collection plate does not always get deposited into the church’s bank account. [...] Last October alone, three such cases surfaced, including one in Delray Beach, Fla., where two priests spent $8.6 million on trips to Las Vegas, dental work, property taxes and other expenses over four decades. In June, the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. fired its second-ranking financial officer, Judy Golliher, after she admitted stealing money that church officials put at more than $132,000.”
        National Secular Society (2007)1

I certainly agree, you are NOT perfect…

HP: You just don’t get it. The same woman who said the criminal justice system in Haiti is unacceptable turned around and said she’ll leave the American citizens to the Haitian justice system.

Why do you feel the need to come to this blog and trash the messenger? Get a life.
