This just ticks me off.
Politico: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee blasted the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Saturday as outdated, nearly corrupt and unrepresentative of the conservative movement.
Huckabee, a 2008 Republican presidential contender and potential 2012 candidate who had spoken at the conference for years, said the reason he blew it off this year was that the meeting has become dominated by libertarian activists.
“CPAC has becoming increasingly more libertarian and less Republican over the last years, one of the reasons I didn’t go this year,” Huckabee said in an interview with Fox News, where he is a paid analyst and has his own show.
He was responding to a question about whether he was upset by his single-digit showing in the conference’s straw poll, which was won by libertarian-leaning Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas).
But it wasn’t the only criticism the Arkansan leveled at CPAC.
Huckabee said the rise of the tea party movement had “taken all of the oxygen out of the room,” rendering the venerable conference far less relevant than it had been in previous years.
“Where CPAC was historically the event, the tea parties are having their own events all over the country and a lot more truly grassroots people are getting involved because of the tea parties,” said the former governor.
I’m a working mom, my husband owns a small business where he works with his hands, and my friend is stay at home mom. You don’t get much more grass roots than that. We talked to people from all over the republic who traveled great distances to be there. Sure, there were a lot of “establishment” types there, but there were also a lot of people like us.
As for the libertarian lean, I heard that 60% of those in attendance were college students. They like Ron Paul. So what?

Da TechGuy and Another Black Conservative linked – thanks, guys!

Sorry, I don’t like Huckabee and I blame him for Obama’s win, frankly. The side I saw of him during the last campaign is a side I don’t want anywhere near White House power. And I really am not impressed by his guitar playing, either.
Huck can stay home all he wants. Fine by me. He’s the one completely out of touch with what “the public” is concerned about and wants for the future.

I don’t like nor trust Mike Huckabee’s conservative credentials and feel slighted by his poke at me – I am a libertarian leaning conservative and although not a water carrier for anyone, I can understand the appeal of Ron Paul. I just don’t get this!

Huckabee ‘dis the CPAC? HERECY!
Any Dems at the CPAC? The perception is that the CPAC is (loosely) aligned with the Republican Party.
For me the Tea Party Movement while conservative in nature is NOT aligned with either party or the CPAC.
It’s a call from members of BOTH parties back to our COMMON Constitutional roots.
It is NOT a wing of the conservative faction of the Republican party.
IMO, libertarians (amongst others) are taking the opportunity to “slip stream” with the Tea Party Movement and get a place on the platform.
In the end, the Tea Party needs to NOT be associated with EITHER party as both have incumbents that need to be voted out and replaced with someone who respects the Constitution above self, party and special interest pressure.

I think that he’s cooked his goose on this one. Sheesh, I never watched his show because he patronizes progressive Marxists like Bill Mahr and Michelle Obama. He’s a lot too gooey for me. I gotta go wash up now.
