Obama Appoints SEIU Head Andy Stern to Debt Reduction Panel

This is beyond insane. Stern’s the type of guy a debt reduction panel should be protecting the taxpayers from. It’s like me putting my kids in charge of the candy and cookie intake reduction panel, but much worse.

The Hill: President Obama announced today his appointees to a recently created bipartisan fiscal commission, including prominent labor leader and Democratic activist Andy Stern.Stern, chairman of the Service Employees International Union, is one of the most powerful figures in the labor movement and has pushed aggressively for a number of Democratic causes, including healthcare reform.

How is a man like Andy Stern, who represents public employees, going to be useful in reducing the deficit? Get ready for the tax hikes.

Stern released a statement, which gives no indication he has any interest in reducing the debt burden on the shoulders of our children.

I have talked to thousands of our members, many low-wage workers, who have to make hard choices everyday to make ends meet, while never losing sight of their dreams — to provide a more prosperous future for their families. They also want and expect their government to make the right choices: to restore our economic health, make smart long-term investments, create a fiscally sound, and fair economic system that rewards hard work and allows their children and grandchildren to live a better life than their parents.

And they expect that, in times of need, the critical safety nets that served their grandparents and parents will be secure both for themselves and future generations.

Hot Air has information on some of the other lefties Obama appointed. Hint: big democrat donors.

Gateway Pundit has video of Stern talking like the commie that he is.

Wow….so we’re basically going to have somebody who thought forking over almost $900,000 in radio & TV ads alone for a winner like Martha Coakley was a good buy in charge of debt reduction….

And I’m sure the SEIU would have nooooo vested interest in the expansion of government or anything….

These union honchos are just like any other lib…very generous with other people’s money; whether it’s taxpayer funds or union members dues.
