Obama: Enough with the Socialist Rhetoric!

Do people still listen to this guy?

The New York Times: The president’s appearance before the group, an organization of the nation’s leading chief executives known as the Business Roundtable, brought him to a skeptical audience at a time when he has been sounding more populist themes, attacking corporate greed, immense bonuses and Wall Street risk-taking.

Mr. Obama used the encounter to make the case that his policies would ultimately help business by guarding against excess and making it easier to create jobs.

“We’ve arrived at a juncture in our politics where reasonable efforts to update our regulations, or make basic investments in our future, are too often greeted with cries of ‘government takeover’ or even ‘socialism,’ ” Mr. Obama said. “Not only does that kind of rhetoric deny our history, but it prevents us from asking hard questions about the right balance between the private and public sectors.”

In his address, the president argued that the current debate about the government’s role misses the point. While business is primarily responsible for creating jobs and growth, he said, “government has a vital, if limited, role to play” by setting fair rules of the road, investing in infrastructure like roads and education and providing a social safety net for society’s most vulnerable.

Let’s see, how is Obama a socialist? Let me count the ways.

1-Taking over auto companies.

2-Trying to take over health care.

3-Expanding entitlements. (As if we didn’t have enough already.)

4-Taking over the mortgage industry.

5-Taking over parts of the financial industry.

6-Taking over the student loan industry.

7-Recruiting students at public schools.

8-Getting the arts community to do one’s bidding.

9-Calling for snitches to report fellow citizens for exercising free speech.

10-Appointing radical, unelected and unaccountable czars.

11-Spending the money of future generations on a green jobs pipe dream.

12-Cap and tax.

Did I miss anything?

Yes you did his association with radical marxist professors while in college. His frank openness about wealth redistribution to Joe the Plumber. There could be more just can’t remember them all.

Don’t you think that, Obama being as incompetent and illiterate as he is about the nation and the world, that the culprit is Valerie Jarrett? Surely he doesn’t get advice about the nation and world affairs from Axelrod or Emmanuel. Some don’t think that Wikepedia is accurate, but I looked there for her bio. Jarrett is the one who wanted Van Jones on board, too. She may be Obama’s “Harry Hopkins”.

      She is his BFF.

And I thought of some more after I posted this, but it’s getting late. We can leave it at the guy who sought out Marxist professors.

    I don’t think he’s a socialist, he’s a fascist. Subtle differences.

This guy is a friggin’ idiot or at least he comes off as one. Someone needs to bitch slap him off his high horse. This video screams irony when he is doing the exact same thing he is so critical of. Notice how he paints the entire left wing with a broad brush (putting communists, socialists, American corporatists, Dems) all in the same breadth. Let’s even ignore the asinine nature of fathoming a reality where Dems (who are considered even more conservative than the extreme right wing of other countries) are on the same page with leftists worldwide.

Notice how he puts the entire “left” in one basket of faulty generalization as if there is some kind of unison conspiracy. It’s about as loony and idiotic as putting all right wingers in one basket by linking them to Mussolini, extremist religion/authoritarian theocracy or staining the religious right with the horrors of the crusades.

To top it all off, he’s doing exact same demonization that he whines so much about. He demonizes the entire left by using the exact same smear tactics he’s crying about. His bias is purely evident in his hilarious dismissal of how the entire right wing (if there was ever such a thing) is just as guilty of doing the exact same thing. Let me elaborate with supporting arguments (unlike what he did in the video):

Let’s take one example. When Bush was on the hot seat as president, Republicans whined just as much about presidential criticism as Dems are whining today and tried just as much to shut down dissent. Countless anti-war protestors were shut down or arrested. Heck, wasn’t it unamerican back then to criticize a president during war time? If that doesn’t scream “shut up”, I don’t know what else does. What about people like Rush pushing the envelopes of vitriol and polarization by claiming “liberalism” as a mental disorder or Beck referring to progressives as a cancer? What do you think their listeners infer from that kind of tone and language? How is that any better than the other “shut ups” he pointed out? What about Fox News whining about liberal bias media while turning around shouting down or shutting down their dissenting guests just as much as the MSNBC they demonize so much? Why should those guys get a free pass just because of their ideology?

Why did he single out Pelosi? Why didn’t he also mention the countless number of Republicans who are just as guilty or even done worse in the past? What about all the dubious marginalizing that has also happened to Dems and left wingers at the hands of right wingers? Why is he completely oblivious to that in his argument? Why does he try to make this an exclusive/particular trait of the left when it simply isn’t the case? How can you complain of left wing charges of racism/slander and completely ignore charges on the other side (calling people who disagree with you terrorist sympathizers, unamerican or terrorist, fascist, evil, likening homosexuality to pedophilia, bestiality etc.) that are just as ludicrous or even worse? Why the blatant filter? Doesn’t it weaken the resolve of your underlying argument to characterize one group exclusively to a tactic when other groups use that same tactic just as much? My guess? It’s simply partisan call of hatred to appeal to wingnuts whose minds are already made up and give them a false sense of moral superiority over others at ideological loggerheads.

Even by boisterously slandering critics of right wing media figures without any strong supporting evidence, he’s just as culpable to the same crimes he cries about. Why are those right wing media figures like Limbaugh, Ann Coulter any less susceptible to the exact same level of critique and scrutiny that these very figure heads and their followers bestow on left wing figures? Oh that’s right, I’m sure this has nothing to do with a partisan delusion.

eg. I can freely criticize Ann Coulter as a person with substantive support. She’s made countless remarks that raise red flags to any rational person and seem personally offensive to me. For instance, I quote her “I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote. No, they all have to give up their vote, not just, you know, the lady clapping and me. The problem with women voting – and your Communists will back me up on this – is that, you know, women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it. And when they take these polls, it’s always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care.” That’s just one among several substantiated and verifiable claims about her vitriol that would support my assertion that she’s bad news. Heck, some conservatives have even subscribed to Poe’s law and criticized her as a deep cover liberal trying to discredit right wingers by being outrageously vitriolic. Again, why can’t he do the exact same to strengthen the rationale of his weak argument?

I would consider this entire thing intellectual vitriol at best. He makes a huge list of unsubstantiated claims and accusations without any strong evidence or factual backing. Why was he so vague and simplistic in his accusations? Why couldn’t he get specific to support his outrageous insinuations? His critique of the Fair Doctrine and Net Neutrality is more evidence of that. Why can’t he be more specific about how both policies tie in to the absurd conspiracy he’s building up?

Does he even pay credence to the reality that the right wing media will benefit more from the fairness doctrine since they are outnumbered and the fairness doctrine deals with such logistical discrepancies? The only caveat is the reinstatement of factual reporting clauses which would be a bane for conglomerates like Fox who’ve already win via the court appeals, the free press right to intentionally mislead their audience with blatantly non-factual information. Seriously, look it up in the Florida Supreme Court database and Jane Akre’s legal battle. Obviously, companies like GE would be hurt by this also since they wouldn’t be able to keep their corporatist spin on things.

All in all, this is an absolute failure probably concocted to keep Republicans happy and foaming at the mouth that they’re on the right team whiles every one else is wrong (simplistic black and white “us vs them” groupthink). I guess it’s good way of staying in denial after all the damage they’ve caused to this country. I don’t mind grilling the left wing in this country. But this high horse double standard bullshit doesn’t cut it in my book. Until you can wake up to the reality that your hands are just as stained with blood as the guy you’re prosecuting, you’ll never have any credibility. Remember what a very wise man once said “Take the log out of your own eye…”

I’m referring to michigan’s post about the video by Klavan on the tactics of the left. That video should be labelled: the tactics of all political nutbags.
