Scott Brown Opposed SEIU Attorney in First Major Vote

By

Scott Brown’s one for one on major votes as a US Senator.

The Hill: Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) cast his first major vote today, helping Republicans maintain a filibuster against President Obama’s nominee to the National Labor Relations Board.

Brown opposed ending debate on the nomination of Craig Becker, a former lawyer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) who has received stiff opposition from business groups and Republicans.

The final vote was 52-33, falling short of the 60 needed to end debate and move to a final vote.

President Obama has blasted Republicans for filibustering nominees like Becker. The vote suggests Brown will stick with his caucus on controversial party-line votes. …..

President Obama blasted the Republicans, did he? A google search of “Democrats block Bush nominees” returns 590,000 stories. I guess that kind of thing is only okay when Democrats do it.

Memeorandum has picked up this story.

  1. I cannot emphasise this enough- the SEIU spent nearly $900,000 in radio and TV ads alone for Martha Coakley Between December and last month.

    That shows that the leadership

    A) is nothing more than a bunch of vapid partisan hacks

    and

    B) the money and union dues they spend on Dem politicians is probably better spent being stuffed into a burlap sack that is in turn chucked down a deep dark pit in the middle of nowhere.
