Scott Brown’s Swearing-In Slated for Thursday – In Time to Stop Nomination of Craig Becker?

What took them so long?

The Hill: Senator-Elect Scott Brown, the successor to the late-Sen. Ted Kennedy, will be sworn in to office Thursday afternoon, giving Republicans 41 seats in the upper chamber.

“Once we get his certificate we expect to swear him in tomorrow afternoon as early as five o’clock, which is earlier than he suggested,” said Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), in an interview Wednesday.

The question remains, will Harry Reid push the vote to confirm card-check supporting union lawyer Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board before Brown’s swearing-in? Forgive me for being naive, but shouldn’t the government’s labor relations board be looking out for the interests of the taxpayers? If so, why would Obama nominate a union lawyer to fill the position?

Here I was thinking the Labor Relations Board was meant to resolve disputes between employees and employers. God forbid we have someone from labor involved in that board.
