The China Question

If you aren’t worried about the national debt, you aren’t paying attention. If you’re a liberal, democrat, progressive – or whatever you call yourself – who criticized George W. Bush for spending too much money, and you aren’t enraged now, then you’re completely blinded by party loyalty or ideology.

Lately President Obama’s been bashing Bush for the prescription drug plan. He fails to mention that the drug plan was a liberal plan that Bush signed on to, and if Obama’s party had their way it would have been bigger and even more expensive.

Obama’s spending, and that of his comrades in Congress, is unprecedented. This is our future, this is our kids’ future. If you think this is going to end well you better think again.

Tonight Glenn Beck was talking about the national debt (see videos below) and how much of that debt is owed to China. I’ve had a bad feeling about that for quite a while, and it’s only getting worse. I’m reading Jean-François Revel’s Last Exit Utopia, which I’ll be reviewing at a future date. In a nutshell, Revel looked at the leftists (mainly European leftists, but it’s applicable to American leftists as well) after the fall of the Iron Curtain, and explained in depth why they were so adamant in denying or ignoring the horrors and atrocities of past and present communist and socialist regimes. The reason I mention it today is that the book was published about ten years ago. At the time China was a debtor nation. They were in debt to the US and Western democracies. Today the tables are turned, and we’re in debt to China. Big time! I just have a really bad feeling about the situation. Revel noted how communist regimes have no trouble taking advantage of the West. Boy, was he right!

The people of China work for slave wages. Why else do you think companies moved operations over there? They’ve fed off of us consuming their cheap wares for years. And now we’re in debt to them. How is this going to end? We’re in so much debt we barely have the money to pay the interest, let alone the principle. We’ve been making concessions to them for years and it’s only getting worse. The Obama administration has decided to cut back on collecting intelligence on China, but China’s increased they’re spying on us. Why? Is it payback? What, besides our economic future, are we ceding to China? Are alarm bells going off for anyone? This is pure insanity. This isn’t about politics or partisanship. This is about our way of life. This is about the survival of our republic.

To add insult to injury, much of the debt Obama’s been racking up hasn’t been spent yet. By design he’s been holding back funds. Apparently he planned to keep unemployment high so he can ramp up spending in election years. So we’re paying interest on debt today that Obama’s keeping in the bank until tomorrow – when he can use it for political purposes.

Revel said “Communist societies have been the only contemporary societies to have restored slavery as an institution. More precisely: to have practiced slavery with their own people.” Is that where we’re headed?

Beck gets to China in Part 2, but I included part 1 since it’s part of the segment and ties in. You can watch the whole program at The Right Scoop.
