I guess former President Clinton is feeling better. He’s putting the old Clinton political machine back in business, smearing activists in the Tea Party movement.

When tea party, 9/12 and townhall protests and rallies first erupted on the national scene, they were derided by national politicos as astroturf or a small fringe movement. Lefty journalists at MSNBC, CNN and elsewhere laughed away the movement with derogatory, pornographic references.
Then, Scott Brown won election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts. No one is laughing anymore. In fact, Democrats are facing political annihilation this November. Not only do Democrats face the possibility of losing their congressional majorities, massive losses in state house races could jeopardize redistricting next year and set back the progressive agenda for at least a decade.
So, the Clinton Empire is planning to strike back.
Big Government has learned that Clintonistas are plotting a “push/pull” strategy. They plan to identify 7-8 national figures active in the tea party movement and engage in deep opposition research on them. If possible, they will identify one or two they can perhaps ‘turn’, either with money or threats, to create a mole in the movement. The others will be subjected to a full-on smear campaign. (Has MSNBC already been notified?)
Big Government has also learned that James Carville will head up the effort.
Obviously, there is no love lost between Obama and the Clinton machine. It may at first seem odd that Clinton would rush to Obama’s defense, but the tea party movement poses a threat far beyond the immediate goals of the Obama Administration.
The tea party movement could evolve into a new political realignment, one founded on a belief in limited government and less government interference in the economy. The Progressive agenda, which has been painstakingly built up over the last three decades, could be left in tatters.
When I first saw the headline at Big Government, I assumed Clinton was going to work to rally the liberal base. How naive of me. I forgot for a moment that progressives operate by destroying their political enemies.
I’m not sure this will work. Sure, he may destroy some reputations, but the Tea Party movement is a ground up movement. It’s made up of people like you and I. They’ll have to destroy quite a few people to have any impact.

The Dems/Libs/Progs are “stuck on stupid” and don’t get it.
The movement is a bunch of regular peeps with little or no prior political activism.
These folks are from BOTH parties, all ages, and all walks of life.
Tea Party peeps are MAD at big gov’t, out of control spending and the arrogant attitude of our public officials.

After all is said and done, and the Dems (and RINOs) are voted out, they will initially be surprised and later blame some kind of evil right wing plot.

Stunned. I shouldn’t be, but I am. I’ve read this “report” and cannot, but should, believe that right-bloggers acros these intranets are falling for this hook, line and sinker. Only at Hot Air has there even been a hint of suspicion over what “Big Government has learned.” Learned from who? Big Government doesn’t say, but that’s no never mind. It is clearly proof of a Clintonista conspiracy against… who? Nevermind. Doesn’t matter. It’s Clinton! It’s Conspiracy! How can you lose?
But really, what’s even better than a completely unsubstantitated, un-sourced, and likely cut from whole cloth story about Clinton conspiracies is the replies to these threads from armchair revolutionaries. My favorite was the one on Big Government’s site that doesn’t settle for a split country (Socialist States of America (SSA) versus Constitutional States of America (CSA- no relation?)). No, that person insists on a forced march of evil progressives to Canada. That’s sane, right?

Oh, and seriously Lonely Conservative, doesn’t the fact that a story featuring a headline about an upcoming Clinton Conspiracy, spends 3 of the first 4 paragraphs talking about Clinton’s heart attack, his work in Haiti, and Scott Brown give you a little pause?
