The construction unemployment rate jumped to 27.1% and construction employment dropped to a 14-year low as another 64,000 construction workers lost jobs in February, according to federal employment figures released recently.
The industry’s job losses in February were consistent with the prior six months and not mainly attributable to exceptionally bad weather, according to Ken Simonson, chief economist for The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Arlington, Va. Simonson added that construction unemployment is at the highest level recorded since the federal government began making the data available in 1976. …

Maggie’s Notebook linked – it looks like all the shovel ready jobs are in Oklahoma.











Construction is down a lot more than that. They as every one else uses the U.E. figures. Construction started slowing in the first quarter of 07. Those guys are off the rolls. The self employed contractor is not on any U.E. roll either. The rate is much greater.

Hmmm, maybe a feminine side that no one has seen? This week should be interesting regarding “EVERYTHING” that’s going on in DC, especially asking Dem’s to throw themselves under the bus for the votes for healthcare. Why can’t these people do what they were elected to do? Is it that freaking hard or what?
