Dan Maffei can’t raise money here at home, since this really isn’t his home. So he’s decided to keep Charlie Rangel’s dirty money.
The New York Post: Rangel stepped down last week as chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee amid a wide-ranging ethics probe.
The money from Rangel quickly became political napalm.
Republicans are hitting Democratic incumbents from coast to coast, including Rep. John Hall of Dutchess County, for keeping $21,000, and Rep. Dan Maffei of Syracuse, for keeping $97,000.
Other than releasing a bland statement about his mentor’s ethical problems, Maffei’s been pretty much mum on the Rangel scandal.
He hasn’t been mum on his old buddy Eric Massa, though. He said Massa’s taking attention away from the real issues they need to work on. You know, like nationalizing the economy and ruining health care. I wouldn’t count Maffei as a “no” on health care. He has a habit of being against things right before he votes for them.
H/T to The CNY Watch for digging up this little nugget from the 2008 Dale Sweetland campaign.

Maffei …. Lie down with dogs, you most likely wake up with fleas….. I’m not claiming your a crook… but seeing your Friend is…and you take money from him…it does say somthing about your core values.
That and you vote exactly how Obama tells you and not what your voters say.
